How to Save Money at Sienna at 6 Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Amazing clinic! My two dogs suffer from severe allergies, and after trying out several other vets, the Sienna at Six team was able to effectively treat and help my dogs manage their condition. Not to mention they have a very friendly and compassionate staff. Highly recommend!

We love ❤️ Sienna 6 Veterinary Hospital!!! We highly recommend it to anyone who has animals for wellness care, illnesses, and or any other needs. I have personally taken my oldest doggie in for euthanasia and they were beyond sensitive and helpful in meeting my needs to stay with him during the process. It will be forever ♾️ a positive memory for me and my family. I am very grateful for Sienna 6 and their support. Their staff are amazing and very caring and educated. My other 2 doggies have been there multiple times for a variety of reasons. Injuries, illnesses, and for wellness’ visits. Each visit has been top notch and excellent in every way possible.

I used Sienna 6 to administer a USDA international travel certification and routine checkup. I called and asked if they had the personnel to administer the certification, and I was assured that they did. After going through the appointments, paying hundreds in fees, and endless calls, I was later informed that they did not have the certification to provide a USDA certification. They offered to help me find another vet to do the certification but never followed up or arranged the encounter. I've come to the realization that they were gaslighting me, causing undue anxiety and stress. This could have been avoided if they were simply honest upfront. This is a niche issue, but I wanted to warn others. Thankfully, I was able to use the Sienna Plantation Animal Hospital. I wouldn't trust Sienna 6 with anything beyond vaccines; they are too disorganized and laissez-faire about our pets’ health to do anything beyond that. What they aren't disorganized about is billing and charging your card.…often without a receipt if you don't ask for it twice.

I have used this vet for many years and absolutely love them. The staff and doctors are so sweet and caring. Their prices are competitive too, which makes it even easier to choose them!

i can’t rave enough about dr. shelby and dr. dobson. i recently rescued two kittens, one of which had a broken leg along with a gnarly wound. initially, he was getting care elsewhere, and they splinted his leg. a week later, we went back to bandage changes and found that underneath the bandage was a horrible infection that had gone necrotic. i made the choice to switch vets after that for reasons i won’t get into here. dr. shelby has been an ANGEL for my little baby. she responds to my anxiety-induced emails even when she’s not at work and you can tell she genuinely cares. in the middle of all this kitten chaos, two of my older cats got sick. they both went off food and were acting lethargic and while one of them bounced back pretty quickly, the other was in and out of the vet 3 times in one week. dr. dobson and dr. shelby worked together to try and figure out what was wrong with her. on paper, she was perfectly healthy. and dr. dobson really put his all into trying to get to the bottom of this, even calling me on a day off to check and see how she was doing. she is 100% back to normal and i’m so, so thankful to have found this vet. words are not enough for the appreciation i have for both of them. you’ve got a customer for life!
