How to Save Money at UrgentVet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

***Edited to add: If I could give more stars I certainly would. About a week after our visit, we received the greatest gift! Unbeknownst to us, they had taken paw prints of our boy, laminated them and sent them with the kindest and most heartfelt note. This is a vet clinic that truly loves their careers and their clients. ** Original review: We had to go to the vet for my dog’s end of life care. They were well equipped for a grieving family. They have a special room with comfortable seating, calm white noise, and special snacks for your pets. The tech and vet were both very compassionate and understanding. They didn’t rush us at all. They gave us precious final moments to say goodbye. When everything was done, they told us we could stay as long as we wanted and to just sneak out when we were ready. Since they were open in the evening, we were able to go home and mourn without having other obligations. They weren’t overly crowded, so we didn’t have all the activity going on while we were saying our final goodbyes. I would recommend using this clinic for any pet needs you may have.

Renee was fabulous. My 4lb dog had ran away and came back a mess. The vet made me feel comfortable with the plan in place, she also explained all the options. They were so gentle with my dog and very sweet. He is feeling 10 x better.

We decided that our girl needed to die with dignity. We called 4 different mobile providers and they were not available until the next day and the cost was $800+. Thankfully my mom told us about UrgentVet and the cost was less than $300. They had a lovely living area with a couch, rug, and treats. We didn’t feel rushed and they explained everything. We are so thankful to the tech and vet that were with us on one of the hardest days. I wish I remembered their names. I cannot thank them enough for how sweet, caring, gentle and thoughtful they were. RIP Kylie March 1, 2012- Sept. 15, 2024.

This was the best vet I’ve experienced so far. We called over the phone for an emergency due to dog fight and they were very kind and helped us make an appointment so we would be seen without a doubt. When we got there, we where met out front and immediately taken to to a room and my boy Draco (whom was bleeding and in pain) was greeted by friendly staff and Draco wagged his tail and showed signs that he was comfortable. They broke everything down for us and quoted us and worked with us to be able to afford care. The treatment he needed was cost efficient but still out of my price range and they still worked with me on the price to get him taken care of and I’m very appreciative. I would recommend this vet to anyone that’s in an emergency. Such a great experience!

This place is fantastic. I’ve had many animals and experiences with pet emergencies/illnesses; this place is a godsend. The staff here are so compassionate and helpful. Furthermore, their rates are very fair, and they will help you talk through all your options for treatment and payment, which I found to be very different from most places that seem to price gauge every service. I would definitely recommend this spot to any pet parent.
