How to Save Money at Hartland Cat Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dr. Hartland is certainly knowledgeable and experienced and our cats were treated like kings. My wife and I on the other hand were not. The whole experience was excruciating for us. The staff, including the Doctor are very impersonal with the owners it seems as we were made to wait in the lobby the entire time. Upon concluding the exam she couldn’t even meet us in the lobby but rather instructed us to call the desk to speak with her on the phone, even though she frequently came out to the lobby for other reasons. Super weird. We are not used to this kind of operation and it had my wife in a panic. They also have an outdated payment system and had issues accepting our card. There’s a tech there who kept talking over us and when I asked I asked about payment plans she literally said “I’d rather you just pay it all”. We finally found a solution and paid the bill. However we will not be returning because they are extremely overpriced. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that you pay for the years of experience but they literal charge %120 more than all the surrounding vet clinics. The whole experience left an awful taste in my mouth, I’d rather taste my cats urine than to go back. It wasn’t all bad, there’s a cat named Bo Bentley to keep you company and he’s a gentleman. I guess if you don’t mind throwing away money and dealing with cold shoulders it’s a great place to go.

Lexi has been grooming our cat for a long time now! She’s so sweet, very fast, and does an amazing job- always perfect. We can tell our cat loves her because she’s never nervous and stays calm. Lexi is the best!!!

Great compassionate people work here. Cat safe place and vet that are considerate in their fair pricing. I went here with my paralyzed cat for daycare and a uti exam. They kept her safe, happy, clean, and made sure she was well taken care of health wise. If you have a special needs kitty, this place is her safe space while you are away at work. Be aware they are closed Wednesdays.

Have taken 3 cats for several years. The best. Simply the best place for feline care. A cat dedicated vet, boarding, and hospital with excellent staff and state of the art equipment not available at the average veterinary clinic. They save lives here and I am very grateful to them. Pretty certain that love of cats is a non negotiable employment requirement for this staff. Prices seem very competitive but your cat gets so much more. Updating my review after 3 more years: They're still the best care you can get. I have lost the 3 I had, but all were in excess of 18 years old, one with a heart defect that should have taken him at 3 years old. I know I had him an extra 5 years thanks to them. My new fellow is a huge handful to deal with, and they manage him just fine. They love CATS here... people will be dealt with graciously, but the CATS are the center of their attention.

There are not enough amazing things to say about this vet clinic. The staff here is incredibly endearing and they care about your baby like they're your own. They are compassionate, warm, and sincere in their practice. Dr. Hartland is INCREDIBLE. I have never met a more passionate and kind veterinarian. Even over the phone, she is detailed, concerned, and makes sure you understand what is going on. If you have a cat, TAKE THEM HERE! I have been to several vets and this team is just wonderful. They're amazing people. Thank you Hartland Staff for caring for my baby until his fight ended.
