How to Save Money at VICTORY BARK VETERINARY CLINIC
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I would not recommend this clinic due to a prolonged failure to diagnose a persistent medical condition. My German Shepherd was seen here regularly from 2020–2024, and a moderate ear infection went undetected for years despite routine exams. We adopted him as a stray in 2020 and brought him in for an initial checkup. At that time, he had noticeable ear odor, redness, and dark discharge, though as first-time dog owners we did not recognize this as abnormal. The clinic did not identify or raise concerns about his ears. Over the next several years, he was seen regularly for annual exams and was repeatedly given a clean bill of health, including explicit reassurance that his ears looked normal. His condition worsened, and I discovered he had a yeast-based ear infection that we successfully treated ourselves. Given the severity and persistence of the symptoms, I feel strongly that this should have been easily identified by a competent veterinarian. I am giving two stars because the staff was consistently friendly and communicative, and the issue did not result in permanent harm. However, I would not trust them with another animal and I hope that no other animals have suffered due to this clinic's negligence. These photos are from Sep 2024, and he had just had his annual exam 3 days prior. We have since switched vets and experienced better care, hence providing a benchmark of what good vet care should have looked like. Thank you very much for your time.

I’ve taken my baby here for Her first checkup and her first yearly annual. I like this clinic. It seems pretty good. The prices seem reasonable. The service is fast and the staff are friendly & definitely flexible. The veterinarian is very kind and provides all the detailed information you need and lots of good health recommendations for your pet. Even though their virtual, they give great recommendations on places you can take your pet for playtime so they can interact with other animals. And you can also book a meeting with the veterinarian so you can meet her ! Overall, great experience will use them again next year!

I do not have enough great things to say about Dr. Ruth and Victory Bark as a whole. I have been going to her since 2020 and I have had nothing but great experiences with her and her staff. They are always so friendly and my dog actually gets excited when he realizes where we are going (even though he still always looks back at me like why are you not coming in?? it's great in here!) I have never been inside the clinic, which I am honestly okay with that because it probably cuts down on a lot of issues, including unfamiliar dogs not getting along. I cannot really speak to the pricing but it seems reasonable for the care she provides. I routinely take my dog there to have his nails grinded because he is a corgi and she knows that their nails have to be cut in a certain fashion due to how his feet sit. She is always willing to provide guidance without making you feel rushed. There was one occasion where I called to ask whether something my dog was experiencing was an emergency. It was close to closing time and they told me to bring him by to check him out. After he was examined, it was determined it was not an emergency situation so we made treatment plans and she saved us an ER visit and bill.

Wonderful. Efficient. Integrated with other clinics and services (Paw Lofts, VEG). They help me manage two total knuckleheads with grace. I can't imagine having a better veterinary than this.

Dr. Ruth gave me such a sense of relief. She was so knowledgeable and comforting that I knew my fur baby was in good hands. She answered my questions and gave me a piece of mind. She treated my baby and made me feel better, too. 😊 We just moved to Design District, so glad to be so close by our new vet!
