How to Save Money at Preston Road Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I moved here to Dallas and urgently needed to find a vet for my boys to get their vaccines and came across this one, thank God. Not only did they take excellent care of my dogs for their yearly shots but one morning woke up and my dog was in excruciating pain with his teeth and got him in a same day appointment and they were able to examine him and schedule an urgent appointment to get him taken care of. I was a wreck dropping him off but had such peace of mind with how caring and gentle these vet’s and vet techs and assistants were with me and my animal. Nobody truly understands how much these animals mean to us and may think we are “crazy” but these employees truly get it. I will continue to go here and recommended everyone I know!

As first time pet owners, we are very fortunate that we have found such a great vet on the first try! First, they have an app that is easy to use where you can schedule appointments (see past and upcoming appts.), refill medications, see information about each pet (breed, DOB, weight, chip #, rabies tag number #, etc), and they also have a contact/providers page. Their contact/providers page is helpful as all the information (phone #, website, email, emergency clinic info) is all in the app. We especially love their "text us" feature, we use it in non-urgent and after hour events, we send pictures and messages to them and they will get back to us within the next day or so. Not only that, all the staff there are super patient, kind, and understanding. They ask us every time before going into the room if we need anything like water and will bring you a water bottle if you need it, which just shows that extra level of customer service. They also, after our very first appointment, sent us a handwritten letter and a gift card in the mail welcoming us. The letter, which not only was just a super kind gesture, but it showed to us that they care. The vet we see is Dr. Brooke Bray and she is amazing. She is sooo good to our pets, you can tell she is passionate and loves what she does. She is willing to answer any questions that I have and it never feels like she has somewhere else to be. She and other vet techs will try to make our pets feel calm by giving them pets and treats during their visit. Overall, very happy with not only the service they provide but also how genuine everyone is there.

You know it’s a good vet when they are busy! Which is challenging and increases the likelihood of more mistakes, etc. BUT Dr. Sue and her staff are exceptionally great, they work so hard and REALLY care about your babies as if they were their own! Absolutely recommend 100000%

This is our new vet office and I was very impressed with the staff and Dr. I had concerns about my dog and they helped me in different ways to handle the situation. They even did a courtesy follow up call to see if he was doing better or if I had concerns. I had a few questions and immediately following the call the Dr called me to provide the answers and address any concerns regarding his care. It's a very nice welcoming place.

The entire staff is friendly, communicative, impressively knowledgeable, accommodating and caring. It brings me reassurance and comfort knowing my pets are in safe hands here. My 2 dogs Butters & Foxxy have only been seeing this location since October, every appointment my dogs have had so far all went really well. Just last weekend my dog Butters fell horribly ill but the front desk was quick to fit me in incredibly last minute. Within an hour and a half of calling that morning we were being seen by the staff. They were professional and compassionate not only towards my dog but to me as well, as it’s stressful to watch your pet in distress. While we weren’t able to pin point the exact cause of my dog’s sudden illness, Dr. Sue was quick to formulate a plan of care for my dog and the staff kept touch with us as the week went on and my dog recovered. He’s doing much better now! Such wonderful staff, I would highly recommend this clinic.
