How to Save Money at Mission Vet Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Walked in and was greeted by a lovely lady. The doctor was amazing. He took time to explain how to fix my problem with my dogs anxiety. I followed his advice and I saw BIG improvements.I'm happy I took my dog to Mission Vet Clinic. Thank you Doctor. We will be back again.

Dr. Wood is an amazing vet. He doesn't work in a small clinic in Dallas with cheaper prices because he isn't good. Rather the opposite. He is very good, but he specializes in more basic vet services because of how vast his client base is. In other words, if your pet has a very complicated diagnosis or needs a difficult surgery, I would go to a different vet. But for routine visits, shots, deworming, infections of all kinds, spay/neuter, more common injuries and illnesses - Dr. Wood is PERFECT and has the best prices. And - He has a HUGE heart to help people because he obviously loves people and animals very much. He is a true missionary showing people love without boasting. I love Dr. Wood and his right hand woman, Maria.. Maria is always available to help me with everything over the phone and email and shes the absolute sweetest. They have been my pet's vet now for like 7 years. I have 4 cats and a German shepherd and I do all their shots, surgeries, medications, exams and visits here. I havent needed to see a vet specialist of any kind and all my animals are very healthy and happy. Actually, Dr. Wood just neutered my kitten Cookie - who is my literal son, I call him my mystical magical man - and Cookie recovered so quickly and easily and was back to his old self the next day. Love you guys Dr Wood and Maria wish you were closer to Carrollton thats my only complaint.

Louie and I had a great experience at Mission Vet this morning! Called around 8am to get my newly adopted 7mo puppy in for a check up and they got us in at 9:30 the same day. I was a little skeptical as the outside of the building is a bit run down looking, but the staff and inside we’re wonderful. Dr. Wood and his assistant were kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcomed all for a very great price. I will definitely be back!

Dr. Wood is so amazing and so is his assistant Maria, they always suggest an inexpensive way to care for my Dog rather than pay an over inflated price at the usual pet clinics. I’ve brought my dog and my family member’s dogs here for years. He’s always resolved the problem on initial visit with very affordable pricing. I always take advantage of their pet clinic (which is very affordable) on the first of every month for the usual rabies shots etc yearly. Highly recommend this place, love that it is down the road from where I live!! 😊🥰🐕
