How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
They squeezed us in for a quick appointment. Dr. Box and his associates quickly said what they wanted to do and asked for my permission to go ahead with their plan. In a few minutes, they ruled out more serious illness and then presented me with the next steps. We were out quickly, and our puppy recovered in a day. Amazing service and respect for owners as well as the animals they care for.

My dog went in completely healthy and somehow seized for the first time and died. I don't even know how to begin this, my dog went in just for a checkup because she had some drops of blood in her urine(she has experienced this before so it wasn't anything too crazy and it was starting to clear up, but i just wanted her checked out, of course). she was six years old, a healthy chi/pom mix. I was called and told she had a UTI so I agreed to the antibiotic shot, convenia, they always give this shot to her, she's used to it, no side effects. they said she was ready for pickup, I got there about an hour or two after their call because I had an errand and traffic was horrible. When I arrived to pick her up, they put my partner and I in a room to tell us she had a seizure??? Not sure why I didn't even receive a call when the seizure happened. The second thing is as the doctor was explaining in the room, a nurse needed him for an emergency and he went into the vetting area, when he came back into the room he told me my baby's heart stopped... He had no idea how. Which is amazing to me because how did she go in for a UTI checkup and end up passing away unexpectedly. No history of seizures or illnesses either. And lastly, I was supposed to receive an email from them about everything they gave her and even a call from someone they were supposedly reporting the death to? No call, no explanation, and no email. I've been going to this Banfield for over ten years. I am genuinely baffled because this is my first bad experience. I've been left completely in the dark on a situation that ACTUALLY matters.

I love this Banfield location! My dog has been going here for over a year now and we are always pleased and satisfied with our visits here. I am part of the monthly wellness plan and it is truly so worth it & cost-effective! The staff members are always so friendly and greeting my dog with the warmest smiles! I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area needing a vet!

I bought a starter coupon book for puppies that included a free first visit to banfield. I dropped my pup off and was told when to pick him up. I was told he was all good and in good health. Even though I mentioned a couple of bald spots and some abrasions on his belly which later turned out to be a staff infection when I took him to a different vet. This didn’t bother me so much as we didn’t do any skin tests and it was a free visit so I don’t know what it was supposed to entail. What really bothered me was the call from collections, without ever any notices from Banfield, stating that I owed them money for a visit that was supposed to be free. They were able to take care of it when I brought it up to Banfield without any problems, but it was a lot of wasted time and gas to get absolutely nothing.

The office visit fee skyrocketed in last 3-4years.. Medications are way above than the rest of the vet pharmacist. Insane for the 3 X Rays they charge closely $550!!! After hefty fees on consultation, exams, medications they will ask you to donate a $ for the pet in need. They really have to revisit the the fees they charge...
