How to Save Money at Tara Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Lexi did a great job getting my dog in and out quickly. His staples look great after he tore open the stitches. He had to have stitches on Wednesday, after he somehow sliced his inner thigh open and today is Saturday, not sure how he tore his thigh open AGAIN, but thankfully he is fixed up now. Thanks so much for taking great care of my babyboy Tara Animal Hospital 💙 I have been coming here for almost 20 years, with all my babies and I wouldn't go anywhere else!!! 🥰 My puppies finally arrived 😍 💕 Dr. Dobbs saw them on September 19th for the first visit, again in October on the 10th. She said they're doing great!!! I'm so happy to have them join our family 🥰 All German puppies, my German Wirehair and 2 Mini Schnauzers!!!

We moved back to the area and my 3 babies needed their yearly check up. I have never been more impressed with an animal hospital than Tara. I unfortunately had to put one of my babies down and they were so kind about everything. They showed love like it was their own. I was sent flowers from them on Ellie’s passing. My other 2 received a welcome gift and card today in the mail. I’ve always heard great things about Tara but now I am a believer… Hands down the best staff and Dr Sims was amazing.. you have a customer for life!! Thank you!!

This place started out by taking our pet rat had grown so quickly that it had gotten so big that the poor little girl couldn't even put her feet on the ground. I've been a member of PETA since about 2008 and managed to get them to assist me financially with both an exam and a euthanization which was no doubt necessary for this sweet little rat named Gracie God bless her little soul. Now we take everyone here, including our small animals as they may be necessary sometimes but mostly our cat. Most recently our visit was good with her doctor and the diagnosis was accurate and made perfect sense. They also were kind and financially compassionate. I truly appreciate them and the way they handled things at each of our visits. I would recommend this place to anyone for any pet.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dr. Dobbs is truly amazing! She walked me through every step of my cat’s new diabetes diagnosis, explained everything clearly, and laid out a thoughtful game plan. What started as a really scary and overwhelming situation became so much easier to handle thanks to her compassion, knowledge, and patience. And the vet tech, Lexi, is truly a cat whisperer! She cares for your pets like they’re her own and remembers all the little details about their likes and quirks. I’m so grateful for Dr. Dobbs, Lexi, and the entire team at Tara Animal Hospital — they truly go above and beyond for both pets and their people!

I know all of my pups are getting the very best care, every single visit. I'm usually able to get my fur babies an appointment fairly quickly, and I know the vets and techs truly care about their well being. They never rush us in and out, and always take the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. We've been so fortunate to have found the amazing vets at Tara Animal Hospital.
