How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Veterinary Large Animal Hospital (VLAH)

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Dr. Steiner was amazing throughout our experience with A&M. Horrible injury to our mare and Morgan ensured everything was done to save her. In the end, with Dr. Steiner's help, we were able to give her a peaceful, dignified goodbye. Nothing can ever repay what they gave to us with all they did for our Pixie.

I took my 1800 lb Percheron gelding, Jerry, in because none of the vets in our area could diagnose his problems. They spent a few days testing him and looking at him inside from one end to the other, and they have him feeling much better and like he's a young teen again. Great staff all the way around.

A&M is stellar. We raise goats, and its really difficult to find a "goat vet." Everyone in my area sees dogs, cats, horses, cows, sheep..... but not goats. Those Aggie vets see just about everything!! At first, we didn't know what was causing the loss of motor control in her back legs, but after a thorough review, xrays, and bloodwork, they discovered a compression fracture in her spine. I left relieved... We had an answer and a plan. My baby goat will receive her little cart next week, and shell be zooming around the house in no time. Thank you, A&M!!

Emergency vet visits are extremely stressful. The staff at TAMU made me feel more at ease through the whole process. The vets were attentive, and called me regularly with updates and to discuss treatment plans.
