How to Save Money at Livewell Animal Hospital of Austin
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Exceptional Care and a Truly Compassionate Team Livewell Animal Hospital is everything anyone would hope for in a veterinary clinic. They are professional, compassionate, and it is very clear they are truly dedicated to the well-being of animals. From the moment my husband and I arrived everyone, including the doctor, made us feel welcome. It was also clear that the team works seamlessly together, creating a calm environment, which puts the pets and put us at ease. What stood out most was their genuine compassion. They went above and beyond by accommodating us to meet Luna, who had been lovingly fostered by one of their dedicated employees and arranged for us to meet her right in their office. This experience showed not just their commitment to animals but also the incredible sense of community and the teamwork they have built. We also learned that they’ve invested in state-of-the-art medical technology, allowing them to offer a full range of services in-house. This eliminates the need for frequent referrals and your pet receives timely, comprehensive care right on site. If you're looking for a veterinary clinic that treats your pet like family, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Name change, Location change......but still top of the line service. Walked into this beautiful undated animal hospital, and was blown away!!! Clean, everyone is so friendly. George gave us a call as a reminder of our appointment. But what impressed us the most was the WELCOME MINNIE sign, in her room.

Live well, formerly Lake Austin Blvd. Animal hospital, will always hold a special place in my heart. They helped me through the final days of my two sweet pugs and now, provide me with great care of my dog, Stevie. I whole heartedly recommend them.

Terrible. My sister took her 4 year old pup in here and dr Gomez was extremely cold and suggested extreme treatment. He told her she had a tumor which needed surgery with general anesthesia immediately to decide whether is was malignant or benign. She went to another vet and they said it’s a histiocytoma and goes away on its own and 99% of them are benign and there is no reason to think it could be malignant currently as it’s small and healthy looking and not bleeding or bothering her and her pup is younger and healthy. Just like the below the review said, Dr.Gomez and the rest of the staff were cold and prescribing unnecessary surgery is absolutely insane and malpractice in my opinion. The second vet agreed. For what it’s worth, another bad experience my sister was going to give them grace for: “a few months ago I took my dog here to get her cytopoint shot and when I left they told me I’d have to pay the next day because the credit card machine was not working. They said they would call the next day and collect payment over the phone and I left thinking all was fine. 30 minutes later they were blowing up my phone and I was at the grocery store, then they call again when I am driving home and say their CC machine is back up and they need my payment now. I tell them I am driving and they said to pull over to give it to them and I told them no, I’ll call when I get home and they said they were closing and needed it in the next 10 mins and would not stop calling me until I paid. It’s not my fault their CC machine was broken and it was SO rude to call me 5 times and treat me like this when they could have just left a message and I would have called back when I got home. I had never had any issues paying so this made no sense but I decided they probably were worried they would get in trouble or something and it had nothing to do with me….” Then this happened with Dr. Gomez and we are convinced this clinic is just a toxic place with rude people who do not care about anything except money and will absolutely put your dog under general anesthesia for no reason and it’s disgusting. The other clinic she went to was completely different and so much better DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY THOUSANDS FOR UNNECESSARY MAJOR SURGERY FOR YOUR HEALTHY DOG!

Dr. Korinsky was very informative and took the time to explain everything to me in a way that was easy to understand! Both her and the nurses on staff were very patient with my reactive dog and did everything they could to make it a positive experience. Thanks to everyone at LABAH for treating my pup with such compassion :)
