How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Bluebonnet Riverside Veterinary Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I have always been hesitant with vet clinics as i have had extremely negative experiences in the past but this one is now my go to! The staff was very knowledgeable! Took my kitty in for behavioral related inappropriate urinating issues and Doctor Tutchton was so friendly and we sat and talked for a long time over different root causes and different remedies. Vet tech Jayda was also so helpful and sweet. There was zero shaming for my ongoing issue only open hearts. I am a little bit tighter on funds and she was so understanding we went over different options and made me feel comfortable and heard. Came home feeling hopeful about my issue and with a game plan. Staff was extremely welcoming from the second I came in and treated my extremely anxious baby with the upmost care. Very much recommend this clinic!!!

My dog and mother’s cats have been long time patients of Bluebonnet with great medical care even though it can be little $. How ever this last time I was extremely disappointed as he was a bad rash and coughing. The Vet tech said “all in” was going be $800. total which I said was as over my total cap. (Included X-rays, allergy shot, and shave and was talking about cone.) When at checkout they wanted to add $90 on top so $900!! for 10 antibiotic pills and a cream also charge me for cone. Also the following day I called at 7am when opened and asked they could send over Rx to HEB so can get less expensive as I was way over budget first thing in AM so I could get otw to work. It wasn’t until 10:30am called in. Manager called me back after left a message and he didn’t really get any resolution whatsoever. So my dog was 3 days later still no topical I had call back to Bluebonnet as it was a day later and still didn’t acknowledge Chewy request for Rx confirmation.

I've used Bluebonnet Riverside for 4 years since I moved to Austin and they've taken great care of my elderly golden retriever. They are always extremely upfront about costs and there are no surprises, the care is always top notch, and their availability and responsiveness is appreciated. The doctors always follow up on appointments as well so I'm never left wondering what the results of tests were.
