How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Arlington Veterinary Center

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Our ferrets had their shots and some others issues seen at this clinic. When our 6 year old ferret finally showed us his time had come this office was incredibly cold and they refused to put our suffering animal down. My questions about putting him down were met with a quick and cold “we will not help you; take him to a hospital”. Mind you this is an albino ferret that is over 6 years with a tumor on his face. I knew it was his time. He did not need medical care, poor thing needed to REST! His quality of life had declined. We WERE able to find FANTASTIC CARE ELSEWHERE THAT WAS MET WITH COMPASSION, CARE and EMPATHY. This place doesn’t offer that when it’s time to say goodbye.

We ADORE Arlington Veterinary Center. Over the years we’ve seen all the vets there and have always had great experiences with them, assistants and front office staff. Only thing they could possibly improve upon is doing appointment reminders. It’s the only medical facility we frequent that does not do them. Very minor thing to do with though given how great they are in all other aspects. Would highly recommend them!

I've been taking my dogs and cats here for about 9 years and love all the doctors. They are very caring and spend as much time as you need. I also like that they can do their own testing, xrays and even surgeries. My cat got cellulitis in her thigh, which required quite extensive surgery and her care was exellent.

I came in this morning in an absolute panic. My dog was having a medical emergency and I barely had my wits about me. The staff of women at the front desk knew exactly where to send me and handled my situation with ease and so much compassion. I wanted to extend my gratitude for your help today. I am happy to report that Jackie Moon quickly received the care he needed at the other location and is currently in treatment, thanks to you. Every interaction that we’ve had with this place has been positive and their pricing is significantly less than the emergency clinics. I feel good knowing that I’m trusting my pets (family) with compassionate people who really care about what they do. I highly recommend Arlington Veterinary Center.

My vet is semi retiring and transferred her clinic to this facility. In the confusion to get help for my dog, I accidentally called another vet clinic in Arlington with the same name and they told me to just come without an appointment because my 15 1/2 year old dog was having breathing issues. I ended up figuring out I called the wrong place when I showed up here. When I explained what happened, they said just come on in and we’ll see your baby. Dr. Heather Olge and the vet tech Jennifer were so kind. The woman sitting at the front immediately put me in a room and I hardly waited to see the vet tech or the vet. I can’t say enough how well they treated my dog and me. Dr. Olge explained things so I could understand, made sure to ask what we wanted for our dog and then treated my dog so well during the examination. I was a bit stressed when I showed up and they helped me calm down. I can’t say enough about the kindness and caring of the people working here. My vet doesn’t work every day now and it’s good to know when I go regardless if she’s there, they have staff and other vets who truly care for the animals.
