How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Animal Eye Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour
If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

My doxie came in with a severe case of dry eye that was causing her to lose her vision! Almost 9 months later, she has increased tear production, less scarring and can see clearly now. I’m grateful for the care team at Animal Eye Clinic and their professionalism!

We brought in our 13 yr old Pomeranian Mix after we had taken her to the ER due to a damaged eye. Dr Sanchez diagnosed her and determined that the Corneal perforation could potentially have been caused due to mineralization of calcium in the eye as the other eye showed signs of calcium build up. Our primary vet had told us that the white spots were cataract’s. Dr. Sanchez examined the eye for vision and concluded that it could potentially be blind. We agreed as we noticed our dog could not see from the damaged eye prior to the damage. Dr. Sanchez gave us two options which we moved forward with Eye Removal for our dog . The other eye will be treated for mineral build up for the life of the dog/eye. If you dog/cat has white spots or any other issues with their eye do not hesitate to bring them to Animal Eye Clinic as they are eye specialists and will know more than a non specialized vet when it comes to eyes. We were very pleased with our visit and wish we could have made our visit sooner when we first noticed white spots on her eyes. The consultation is $195 for dogs and I believe it is totally worth it as you could prevent further damage sooner than later. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and was able to take us in as a walk in.

When my already one eyed cat was having mysterious swelling on his face, my vet immediately referred me to Dr. Paulsen and his staff. They were able to get me an appointment the next day and a surgery date 4 days later! Dr. Paulsen and the rest of the staff are very professional, always punctual, very friendly, and they made sure I was informed throughout the whole process. I personally love the detailed written notes you get to take home! Everyone there seems to genuinely care about their patients and I’m so glad to have such high quality care so close to home. We have been taking our Boston Terrier, Penny, to the Animal Eye Clinic for about a year. She has lost sight in her left eye but has some vision in her right eye. With Dr. Paulsen’s help, she had been able to keep both eyes with a regimen of eye drops throughout the day. Dr. Paulsen is very professional, thorough, and highly knowledgeable. He and his residents take the time to explain Penny’s condition and prepare us for options to come. The staff has always been upfront on costs for appointments and possible surgeries. So far, Penny is happy and is able to live normally with our help and care. We greatly appreciate the care of the Animal Eye Clinic. They have made it possible for an initially frightening, painful situation to become a beautiful life for our much-loved Penny.
