How to Save Money at Williams Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We have used Dr. Williams, for several years, wouldn't have another doctor, other than Dr. LaValley, which is in the practice with him. They take great care of Biscuit. They took wonderful care of our shih zu, Max, until he passed away on Good Friday, 2021. Max had cancer, and we lost him at age 14 1/2 years old. We had him 10 1/2 years. Dr. Williams took him in and started out all over with since we couldn't get any records on him. He was a sweetheart, and everyone loved him!!! Of course, we have Biscuit now. He's 3 years old and Dr. Williams' office found him for us. He is a Maltese mix. He's a little rambunctious and likes to play a little too hard sometimes, but he's still a baby boy!!! He's learning....

I wouldn’t take my babies anywhere else! Dr. Jean is the sweetest and you can tell how much she loves animals. She and the rest of the team have always been amazing. When we had to say goodbye to our kitty in 2018 they were the absolute kindest. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for a new vet then look no further because Williams Animal Hospital is hands-down the best. My family and I have been taking our beloved pets to Williams Animal Hospital for over 20 years and will continue to do so. We did try out other vets, but no one gives better care and true compassion to our furry family members than the EXCELLENT doctors and staff at WAH! They're extremely professional in how they treat EVERY animal that comes in their door; they treat both the pets and pet owners as if you are family, through the good times as well as the worst, which is extremely comforting and very much appreciated ❤️ They handle every animal as if it were their own. I have to give special credit to Dr Jean, as she has helped get me through a lot of really tough times, she speaks and listens to your every word like a true friend and shares in your emotions. But that's not to say the other vets aren't just as great! If your pet is sick they will put in as many hours as possible until they find, or can come to a medically sound hypothesis or diagnosis and if they are physically/medically unable to treat your pet there, then they'll immediately put in a referral to a specialist they know well and trust. I honestly have nothing to complain about. Everyone there is super friendly, caring, extremely knowledgeable, attentive and just AWESOME! **edit** Had to take my service dog to Williams Monday, as she wasn't feeling so well and Doc took great care of her! He did a full exam on her and explained everything in great detail for me! Doc is a great and friendly veterinarian that's extremely knowledgeable. My service dog @bambithecheagle is feeling better than ever! I wouldn't take my my pups anywhere else. Thanks Doc!

The doctors at this clinic are WONDERFUL. They have been treating our little dogs and our horses for 20 plus years. I am giving a 4 star. Because there receptionist and office staff need training on customer service. They are cut and dry, which is fine, but not comforting or inviting when working in and with the public.

Dr. Larry Williams & staff are the best! They have treated all my pet family with genuine care. The pricing is by far better than most facilities. Low employee turnover says a lot about this practice! If your looking for vet, look no further than Williams Animal Hospital. :-)
