How to Save Money at Oregon Veterinary Dental Specialists
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently had the pleasure of taking my senior dog (almost 16 years old) to Oregon Vet Dental Specialists, and I must say, my experience exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the pristine cleanliness of the clinic, which instilled confidence in the care my furry friend would receive. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Sarah Bonner and the assistant, Kellen. Their professionalism and expertise were evident as they worked seamlessly to ensure Furball felt comfortable during the examination. Not only did they conduct a thorough check of his teeth, but they also captured amazing pictures that provided valuable insight into his dental health. Dr. Bonner's insightful suggestions for Furball's next steps were invaluable, and Kellen's efficiency in performing the blood test was truly remarkable. I was pleasantly surprised by how swiftly and safely the process was carried out. Furthermore, I must commend Brenna at the front desk for her exceptional assistance with any billing inquiries I had. Her dedication to ensuring I had all the information I needed was greatly appreciated. Throughout the entire process, the team at Oregon Vet Dental Specialists maintained excellent communication, keeping me informed every step of the way. Dr. Bonner's ongoing guidance and recommendations for Furball's continued care were incredibly helpful and reassuring. In summary, my experience at Oregon Vet Dental Specialists was nothing short of amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking specialized dental care for their pets. Their commitment to excellence and personalized approach make them the best choice for pet owners looking to prioritize their furry companions' dental health.

I took my 14 year old dog here today for some teeth extractions and everyone we interacted with was so amazing and kind. We were both super nervous and now my old gal is home, resting, and on the mend! I couldn't be more grateful.

I had a great experience here. My 6 month old kitten had a weird thing going on where her upper teeth were poking into her bottom gums and they resolved it quickly and it was affordable. Staff and doctor were very friendly and nice.

When I adopted my pomchi Aurora from the shelter at 8 years old, her teeth were already in pretty bad shape. We tried to do what we could over time to salvage the situation but unfortunately some of her teeth abscessed and she was in consistent pain, so our vet referred us to ADC for extractions of all her teeth because they were concerned about the possibility of her jaw breaking during the procedure. I was a nervous WRECK about the entire situation, and anesthesia had left my pup pretty sick during her initial cleaning procedure. She was 10, almost 11 at the time of the surgery, so her age also made me super worried. Fortunately for us we had Dr. Bonner taking care of her! The procedure went as smoothly as it could’ve gone, and they were very responsive throughout the entire recovery process. We could not have asked for better care, and they had great patience with me and my ten thousand questions! My girl just turned 12 and her quality of life is one thousand times better. Night and day difference. Plus she has a cute little tongue blep now!! :) I cannot thank the team at ADC enough for taking such good care of Aurora and making the process as painless as possible for everyone.
