How to Save Money at Appleseed Valley Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I would not recommend this place to a single soul. never EVER took my sick kitty Leo here and he still had a chance, i believe because he wasn't too sick yet the first time got a felv and fiv test then Abe comes back and says he doesn’t have either but he has fip fuild build up around his heart tells us if he doesn’t have a heart attack n pass this week he’ll be okay sent home with prednisone and told to only feed wet food i do exactly that come back in 2 weeks and he says he is okay must of just had a nasty gut infection give him 2 shot witch after all this i search up and it says the one is for a skin infection weird cuz he didnt have a skin infection? Leo was taken of prednisone without winging him off it, which I later found out is not good. leo started breathing weird again so we call and his brother jobe who “has NEVER seen leo” cuz abe is on vacation “seemed like he’s always on vacation” says put leo back on steroids then abe calls a few days later and tells me to keep him on them and to call him in 3-4 weeks so i do just that and we set up a appointment when i called when we bring him back in the vet techs and abe were trying to gaslight us abt leo weight he had weighed 7. something pounds last time and he was getting wrose he dropped a pound and i was like oh he lost weight and everyone was like no he’s always weighed that and every time i would pick up medicine it had leos weight right there and then abe trys to say that leo has immune-mediated thrombocytopenia and said that he already told me this on the phone said that i “must have been confused a lot of medical talk” leo had a lump on his side and i asked Abe about it and he felt it and assumed it was his kindey witch was later confirmed by second opinion after x-ray to be some kind of mass possibly a tumor. and says he can’t take him off the prednisone because he’s scared he will die without it at this point its been abt 3 months and you can tell leo’s getting worse he is extremely thin and also mind you abe never did blood work that i was aware of never did xrays stool sample nothing took him to akers after all that and the first thing she did was blood work stool sample and x-ray leo was too dehydrated for blood but she told us that he was very constipated and she told us to come back in a week so they could try blood again we go back and very unfortunately told us that she believes leo has blood cancer and should be put to sleep bc he’s in pain but after everything with appleseed i was scared to trust them so i made him another appointment for a second opinion on that at a different vet leo didnt make it too his appointment 12 hours before he very sadly ended up passes i turly believe if abe would’ve did something else leo could have had a fighting chance and he would still be here with us! My poor baby suffered for months because of Abe’s actions!! rest in peace my sweet leo bean🕊️🤍

My husband brought in our baby, George Jones. Our regular Dr. Couldn't get him in till May. Dr. Abel thankfully could get him in. He has a horrible infected tooth and a temperature. Thank you so much for helping our baby. Our loyalty is with you!!!!

Would not recommend this vet to anyone who truly loves their pet and considers them family! They definitely do not treat them as such. My dog was seen and needed surgery that would cost approx $3k and because I could not afford the 80% down payment after already paying $400 for the x-rays and office visit that day. I was sent home with a hope and a prayer. No payment plan options or even pain meds for my dog that was obviously in need. She ended up passing away a day later 💔 Not to mention the bedside manner of the vet was awful and very dismissive

Love the friendly staff that greet you as soon as you come through the door. My dog has an emergency and they were able to get him in right away even though we were new customers. Couldn’t believe how reasonable the price considering it was an emergency! We have found our vet for all our animals.
