How to Save Money at Town and Country Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff is very kind and easy to talk to! I appreciate Katie following up on Gus. De Lauren takes such good care of my little guys. Keep up the good work!

Been going to this vet for over 25 years. It’s under new ownership or management but still as amazing as ever! I don’t even know what to say ~ I love this place! So many years ago we started taking our animals there for shots and boarding. My husband passed away and I moved and live over an hour away ~ went to a new vet in my town & had a bad experience with my two dogs so I’m back to Town and Country. Lost one dog to old age but I still go the distance with my other dog. Don’t know if I will have another dog after my present dog passes but if I do I really think I will still make the drive. Been to a lot of vets but this place is top notch! Oh and my dog Leo loves the dog treats! I think he actually enjoys going there just to get those awesome treats! Love 💕 the staff & the professionalism ! Definitely 💯 the best!!

When we got Buster 5 years ago at the age 1.5 he was already established with Town and Country Vet so we decided to stay with them. And we're very happy with our decision. I love the way they call our pets by their names. Buster Crank and Jenny Crank. I was nervous the first time we went in bc I wasn't sure how Buster would react around other animals but it was quite and peaceful in the office. I've referred several people to T&C!

The vets are really nice, and so is the staff. We've been going for years. This time around, they've helped our little kitty that had 2 broken legs. He's doing really good and can't tell that he has a rod in one of them. Thank you and we'll be seeing you again soon

I have never had a bad experience here. My family has been bringing our pets here for many years, and I can't say enough good things about the way the staff cares for the animals and for their owners. My cat is almost 7 and she has recurring allergies, along with anxiety that has caused some different problems over the last couple of years. Each time I call in to make an appointment, the reception staff speaks to me with kindness and respect. They go out of their way to try to get your pet seen as soon as possible. We always arrive early or on-time, and we never have to wait more than 5 minutes to be taken back to a room. We typically request Dr. Lauren or Dr. Barney, but we have also seen Dr. Judy a few times. Each of them treats their patients like their own and addresses all of my concerns. Dr. Judy even went out of her way to research some new food options for my cat to try and alleviate her allergy flareups without it messing with her diet restrictions. I live an hour from Town & Country and have no problem driving that far each time, for the level of service that my pet and I receive. I will continue to recommend them to anyone and everyone!
