How to Save Money at Highland Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We had an outside cat with a facial injury that had to be seen at once. They were able to give us an appointment on a Saturday morning. Dr. Andray and all of the staff were amazing. They handled the spicy ginger boy with care and he is now sitting in a crate pouting. They helped us take care of him so that he will live a longer better life.

They were really nice and got me in quick! The prices were solid and not expensive. I actually ended up here because my current vet in Fairlawn was bought out by another doctor and became a rip off price/service wise so I was very happy to find Highland plus it’s closer to my place downtown.

I was referred here by Stow Vet clinic. I am a mom of 3 and wanted an estimate of cost just so I can see what I would need to bring to pay for the visit. My cat is healthy and fine but simply sprained her hind leg. They charge 60$ JUST for being a new client. That isn’t even including the price for seeing the pet. I asked her what the initial cost of just the visit would be not including tests and she would not tell me. I asked her how they determine a visit price as I’m sure plenty people bring cats and what they charge for a sitting fee for a cat should be the same for all sitting fees for cats. I asked to speak to her supervisor And she put me on hold and then told me that I can’t speak to her supervisor and then she continue to put words in my mouth And try to say that she told me that all would have to pay was 60 but that was not true. That is not what she said at all. Untrustworthy right off the rip.

I have a diabetic cat (Lance) and my Vet was out of town. I called Highland Vet Clinic, and they set me up with an appointment and were very helpful in my time of need! I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a knowledgeable, caring pet clinic! I found them to be very reasonably priced. We have 5 dogs and 2 cats and with Lance being diabetic we are at the Vet's office quite often.

We asked for a copy of the policy yesterday after they tried to bill us twice for the same care. Care that with our other 2 pets was MUCH less and not double charged either. Now they say they have to double charge if not an annual visit...we were just there 3 weeks ago with same pet paid the annual checkup cost, and they charged us again. Their staff ignored us, for an hour. Left to take our pet home, came back to pay what was right, just not the double charge. Still said it was due. We didn't have to pay right then they said. Still ignored request for policy copy to explain their "policy ". Refused. Emailed us today said we are no longer welcome there, even though we were beyond calm, patient, but stood our ground. They tried to get us to purchase extra and unnecessary medications just to make money. Since new ownership, this vet has been more about money, cramming multiple appts like a human dr office, and not about what really matters, care, and concerns of pet owners. So keep your bill receipts, and KNOW and NO you DO NOT have to pay day of. Our kitten is very questionable right now with cough issue and heart murmur, and THIS is how they treat someone when we noticed they were double charging us. They don't give a crap about your pet. As you can see from other low reviews, it's all about money for them. They lie, ignore, brush off, and rip us all off. We are calling appropriate people to have them looked into. Looking back to yesterday'l, I should have made a scene.
