How to Save Money at A.C.E. Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Caring, compassionate and honest♥️ I’m new to ACE and I have had Lily to several Veterinarian offices and spent thousands of dollars and up until now I have felt completely let down!! Lily still suffers with allergies and other issues that were brought on by other Vets misdiagnosing her. I explained all the problems and explained the misdiagnoses and the doctor's at ACE Veterinary Hospital have been wonderful explaining their findings and trying to address Lily’s issues. Granted this may take a few visits to get things under control and making sure their suggestions or medications are helping, but at least someone is genuinely helping which makes me feel sooooo much better! I would recommend ACE to anyone that needs a caring, knowledgeable animal hospital that treats their fur baby like a patient in need of healing and not just a dollar value. The entire staff is AMAZING!

Have been with them for 10 years. They know all the quirks of my silly pup. Very attentive to Georgia's needs. Very personable and skilled.

I am very disappointed in this place. I recently moved to Hopewell Junction area in November of last year. In January, I brought my cats to get them examined, but more importantly, to get them as “established patients“ because I was fearful if an emergency happened, and I wasn’t an established patient at a veterinary office they wouldn’t see me. Just a few days ago, my cat was panting, and his back legs were paralyzed. I called the vets office in a frantic panic, and it was approximately two hours before Their scheduled closing hours. I was told by the receptionist that they were all going home soon so I would have to bring my cat to an emergency animal clinic in Brewster immediately because it could be a cardiac event and that I should hurry up and put him in the car right now. So it was clear that this was an emergency and the vet was still in the office and according to the hours still had about two hours to go before closing, and yet they refused to see my cat. I’m really disappointed in this office. My poor cat had to go through a half an hour drive when it could’ve only been 10 minutes. These people don’t care about animals at all. Oh, and if you want to look me up ACE, my name is Danielle Brown (Coffey was my prior name)

Absolutely love ACE... the vets and staff are so kind and professional. It says a LOT about an office when so much of the staff has been there for as many years as I have been. They have helped my MANY animals through cancers, orthopedic issues, eye problems, surgeries, skin problems, injuries and rescue pet visits. They are compassionate, patient and innovative in caring for animals that have diminished social skills as well...I recommend this practice whole heartedly to trust with the care of your treasured pets. Thank you for your dedication ACE

We had been very disappointed with our vet care and tried your office on the recommendation of a good friend. We loved Dr Brooke, who seemed to actually care I’m about Buster’s comfort, and that of his mama. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in animal lovers. As the puppy caregiver of a diabetic doggo, it’s so important to feel I have a knowledgeable team working with me to provide the best care I can to my beloved fur-kid. Buster has passed, and now ACE Veterinary takes great care of Callie J!
