How to Save Money at Wayne Hills Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This place is absolutely disgusting. The doctor is an older man that needs to retire for the safety of the animals. He is in a power wheelchair and can barely move or take care of himself. It was only him and the receptionist. He had no nurse to assist him which he desperately needed since someone has to help him since he is so old. He was extremely rough with our small dog. He also didn’t even wear a glove when doing a rectal exam on my dog. He got poop on his finger and just wiped it off and proceeded to do the exam once again with no glove. He then did a blood test on her which was extremely weird and outdated. The whole room and tests were extremely dirty. Didn’t wear a glove when taking her blood and he even put the blood on his NAIL since he didnt have a container and then did other tests. While he went to do further tests I grabbed my dog and went to the receptionist. She was also extremely rude. I told her that I need to pay and leave. Told her my complaints especially about him not wearing a glove for the exam. She said that he washes his hands after. I sure hope he does but it is still disgusting and unsanitary. The receptionist said we didn’t have to pay and can leave. Good because I refuse to pay for garbage and that is exactly what the doctor and place are. He needs to retire. I read other people’s reviews and they have had their pets die under his care for routine exams or cleanings. How is he still able to practice and have his place open? Absolutely disgusting and I will get in contact with whoever in order for him to shut this place down. If you love your animal then DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. Absolutely trashy.

Dr. Ketner is knowledgeable. Most of the area vets are money driven. I took my senior cat to a different clinic that wanted to charge me for guessing (a myriad of unnecessary exams). Brought her here and she lived for another 3 years! Why? I was given a comprehensive and cost-effective plan that I performed myself with routine examinations. The visit can be a little unsettling but worth it to me. Also, ageism and disability discrimination are shameful. Criticize someone's performance not their condition. All people age and can become disabled at any moment. Credit should be given to Dr. Ketner who finds the strength and drive to serve his community. Many merely exist for the sake of existence.

It’s a good place, vet seems to have tons of experience and the staff is very friendly but this place NEVER picks up the phone, they don’t accept walks in and if you go there they will tell you to call and make an appointment it the thing is they never pick up the phone, at this point is better to schedule a visit with the president, I left multiple voice messages to get an appointment for my dog that it’s turning one soon but it just remains me of how hard it was a year ago to get in contact with them!

The front desk secretary is extremely rude and clearly in the wrong field. Her cold attitude and lack of compassion for animals make it obvious she’s not an animal lover—definitely not someone who should be the first face you see at a pet-focused business.
