How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Miller Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

The staff and Vet was more than the BEST when it came to care for my German Shepherd. We unfortunately had to put him down due to lung cancer and we were treated with so much love for us and especially for him. Dr. Miller went out of his way to make sure we were knowledgable, and felt valued. He understood we were losing a part of of our family and made sure this experience was the best it could be under the circumstances. I am forever grateful for how he handled it until the end and made sure to take the time to NEVER make us feel rushed. This veterinary is truly the best i have experienced and the staff aligns with the Vet's values.

Miller Animal Hospital is truly a one of a kind vet! We were so impressed with the level of service- honestly from the moment you enter, of everyone in the staff, towards both our cats and dogs, (and us)! We switched ALL of our animals to Miller, from our previous Matthews-based Animal Hospital. Dr. Miller (both I’m sure) is obviously an animal lover, which is shown by the display of framed pictures of his family pets throughout the office! The level of patience that the staff has for animals, (and especially people) is also very evident. I’ve seen this many times now, and I am so impressed with the genuine love for so many- even walking out the door! The staff here clearly do not rush people (or their pets) in any way, and seem to want to answer any questions brought to them. Not only this, but our dogs and even our cats were very relaxed the WHOLE time we were there- surprisingly, our appointments have never taken more than about 30 min, start to finish! Very efficiently organized and so well-run! I highly recommend this great establishment, and it has clearly stood the test of time, since it’s been CLT based for many years! Thank you to everyone at Miller Animal Hospital! Natalie

This was our first time there and we were welcomed with the upmost care for our dog. All the vet techs were very friendly and genuinely cared for our dog. Dr. Miller was great with our dog, pointing out mobility issues she was having and giving us pamphlets of different methods to treat her arthritis. I would highly recommend this vet practice!

We have been going to Dr Miller for over 20 years, and were recently treated in the rudest, most unprofessional manner. My first dog was one of his very first patients, and despite the fact that it became harder to get an appointment, that the front desk staff is not nice, and that the new office is over 30 minutes from my house-we continued to see Dr Miller out of loyalty. I had generally thought he was a kind and compassion vet. When my dog became critically ill in August, they made no effort to squeeze us in and casually told me to just go to ER. She was hospitalized for several days, and despite being contacted by the hospital for records and my subsequent messages, I never heard from anyone at the office. My father was a Dr for 42 years. If one of his patients went to an ER, you can be sure they would have received a follow up from him or his office. When I recently told Dr miller how disappointed I was, he was so volatile, used profanity and told me he didn’t have time to follow up on sick dogs that go to a hospital. Moreover, he told me he didn’t want to care for us anymore. His response quite frankly, was worse than the callous regard for my dogs well being. I just can’t believe that this is how they treat one of their longest standing families. So much for customer service or loyalty. And for the record, this situation is the first time I have ever posted an online review-that’s how egregious it was!

This is the vet you are desperately looking for. The one who will love your dog from the over excited puppy to struggling senior. The one who tries to make time for you even though they are busy because they know you need them when your loved one isn't well and you are stressed beyond reason. I have spent the last couple of years struggling to keep my four senior Siberian Huskies healthy and looked after and its been very mentally, physically, and financially difficult. I checked my credit card statements and I have been to the vet 22 times in the past 12 months alone. I found this office because I had to change vets many times for a variety of reasons, including 8 moves, because a previous one seemed disinterested in geriatric care, and another failed to disclose their requirements / policies before procedures and I felt like they were willing to put my dogs through unnecessary risks. I now drive about an hour and 15 minutes on average one way to have my dogs seen by both Dr. Millers ( Father & Son ). I often have a hard time with car sickness and its still extremely worth it. They put dogs first while still doing their best to be respectful of your financial situation and always try to think through what tests or diagnostics will give them the most information and the owner the best value. One of my dogs ended up with heart enlargement due to presumed genetic predisposition and being on a grain free diet when not being a very phsyically active for several years. They helped me get her on meds to help her heart which helped prevent heart failure onset and allergy medicine to help her frequent hot spots (which one time a flare up brought need for a nealr 10 week intense treatment plan ).They also made me aware our male with frequently urinary tract infections ( he drinks tons of water, I promise ) could take urinary supplements daily and they are totally gone! He also had a fatry tumor and they monitored it because they didn't feel it was a necessary surgery unless it caused him actual discomfort. It ended up growing faster than expected and they did a great job removing it. The dog with the heart condition was very food motivated her entire life but after a 2 days of bad diarrhea this week, she suddenly stopped eating entirely. The younger doctor did only the tests he thought would provide the necessary information to discover the cause and found she had developed a rather large mass on her liver in the last 11 months since her last x-ray; likely being some kind of cancer. It would not have been in her best interest for quality of life to operate given her other conditions and a likely slow and rough recovery. On that last late afternoon appointment, he did try a B12 shot, some other helpful medicine shot, and fluids with hope she might would perk up and eat again to give us just a little more time to spoil and love her before having to say goodbye to our loved one of 12.5 years, but she wanted to let go. She would have suffered a likely painful and miserable decline while we tried to convince her body to let her eat again, and he was very kind and respectful about trying to help us make appropriate decisions at each appointment, phone call, or email. When the third day of refusing food began and the shots and fluids weren't enough to make her want to keep fighting, they worked us in for her euthanasia the same day so she wouldn't continue to be in pain or starve. So very thankful we had Miller's Hospital team through such an incredibly painful and sad experience. It isn't often you find a vet whose entire office from front staff, to vet techs, to the doctors themselves are all entirely caring and passionate about doing the best they can in any scenario and loving every patient for what little time they get to see them. This is a difficult and compassion driven field of work and this office has what it takes to offer the best possible care. Sorry for such a long review, but I know how frustrating it is to see 5 star reviews everywhere only to have a hollow experience. Hope this helps give others confidence.
