How to Save Money at Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital at Manchester Avenue

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital at Manchester was a great experience for a pet parent. They took care of Mylo. They addressed any of our concerns. I appreciate the vet coming in to sit down and ask if we had any questions and walked us through what was happening. This will be our primary vet.

I want to give A SHOUT out to Dr. Rice and the girls who helped with taking care of my Dog Indigo "Indy" Dr. Rice was on top of what he thought my dog was suffering from. With out the exact blood testing he was not definitive with diagnosing him with it. But I can tell you he made sure I knew what I was possibly dealing with before I walked out. And I came back the next week to have a check up. It turns out the Doc was correct 100% with the illness he thought it could ha e been. My dog has addisons disease and I would have never know ln what to watch for if he had never told me what it was and to watch for. .I ended up having to have him hospitalized overnight at another animal hospital several weeks after I went to Fox creek. They confirmed it was addisons through the tests that Dr Rice wanted to run. So I truly believe this Doctor is an amazing doctor and TRUST WHAT HE SAYS ! He had never met my dog and within a few moments of Mr describing the symptoms and the blood work results were low and out of range they should have been at. He immediately thought addisons disease. Thank you everyone at fox creek for helping my boy get to the road of feeling himself again. He will be on meds for the rest of his life but is able to live a full long life with the proper care and medication. 🥰

Our dog became ill over a weekend. Even though she did not need emergency services, she needed treatment that could not wait until Monday at our regular vet office. A local emergency animal hospital referred us to Fox Creek on a Sunday morning. The entire staff at Fox Creek was very professional and caring-our dog received excellent care and is feeling much better. We are very grateful for all of their assistance!

both my babys who have been here, have had the best care. Everyone is so compassionate from the moment you call them the first time to when your walking out. They treat your babys like your own. I am very much so an anxious mess when it comes to stuff like that, they really care. Best experiences

On a Saturday afternoon, when my normal vet was closed, I called Fox Creek and VSS to compare what they suggested for my dog who was not doing well. After speaking with Savannah on the phone, I felt like she was more compassionate and I appreciated that I could have a same-day appointment even though they were booked. I was able to take my dog within a couple of hours of calling and I’m so grateful I did. Kailyn was my tech and I couldn’t more better things about her. She was personable, caring, and knowledgeable. She was not bothered with the questions and concerns I had. She genuinely seemed to enjoy her job, respected her boss, Dr. Rice, and cared for my dog. Dr. Rice, the vet, was equally as great. He was empathetic and explained the treatment choices I had. I’m grateful for the care Fox Creek provided. I will take my dogs here from now on. I always appreciate a great experience and I will recommend them to others who are searching for a trustworthy vet and/or emergency services.
