How to Save Money at Angel Animal Hospital Of Southgate

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I'm very grateful for the people of Angel animal hospital. My senior pug fell down the stairs and wasn't moving much. I brought her in immediately for an appointment and was referred to a product trial called librella. This recommendation has saved my dog's life. She has healed and has not had this much energy or personality in at least 4 years. The staff here is outstanding getting us in and out in under 10 minutes most times. I cannot say enough great things about the staff here. Thank you!

I took my 13 yr old tuxedo cat in for an infected tooth. Had a great experience, the staff was very friendly, the doctors are very thorough and knowledgeable. Unfortunately when they did bloodwork it came back my cat was in kidney failure. They're doing everything possible to get him feeling better again and prolong his life. When I came back to buy his special kidney food I told the young lady at the front desk I had some questions for the doctor and wanted to know if I could get him something for nausea since he wasn't eating and throwing up. She let me go right to the back immediately to speak to the doctor. He gave me some pills for his nausea right then and told me to bring him in to give him some fluids to help him feel better. Also their prices are pretty reasonable. I would definitely recommend them!

We’ve had an amazing experience here with our cat, Earl Gray. We so appreciate all of the staff and Dr. Singh for everything they do! It was getting more difficult to get into our regular vet, but we’ve been able to get reasonable appointment times here which has allowed us to address an important health condition for our cat. Additionally, given the circumstances, it is affordable which is helpful when you are trying to figure out what exactly is going on with a sick pet. We get copies of everything done and it’s great to have someone walk you through the test results. Will be continue to come here for all of our pet needs.

EDIT: adding photos in light of the vet's response. To be clear, I am not upset about the quality of the shave, I am upset that they cut my cat's whiskers and tried to tell me that they didn't. Don't bother. I brought my cat in for a shave down and they cut her whiskers terribly. When I brought it up to the vet, he denied that they'd cut her whiskers. When I told him I had photos of my cat from before and after the procedure, he denied that it was a problem and that cutting whiskers was not detrimental to the cats well-being. Will not be returning.

First and foremost, I can assure you our 3 pairs + 1 of old rescue dogs for over the decades are all big fans of Dr. Singh. Very kind, informative and trustworthy vet for humans, too. Recently our new two ex-stray Saint Bernards (2yrs old) over 100lbs each had spay surgeries back to back performed by him. Despite the size and the not so domesticated personalities, Dr. Singh performed it like magic. Only 2.5" clean sutures with no swelling, leaking or pain. They recovered within less than 30 hours and back to normal again. What is really remarkable is his wisdom to change the dosage of nerve pain med according to the dogs' personalities(same body weight ).He reduced the dosage for the quieter one on purpose. How mindful! His insight, understanding and intuition of the condition of the animals is like no other. Highly recommended to all animal lovers!
