How to Save Money at Blue Paws Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Amazing experience here with my pitties. Staff is very caring and understanding as to what my dogs needs are. Doctor is knowledgeable and willing to listen to all my concerns. My dogs enjoy coming here and that has never been the case before with any other vet clinic I've gone too. 10/10 would recommend. They are always able to get me an appointment if not that day, the day after. And open on the weekends 🙌 Couldn't ask for better.

I called at 2:36p on a Sat, was only 5 min away. I told the lady what the issue was, she said get here fast. It cost me $60 for the Vet to tell me it's almost closing time (4pm) so to just watch my cat and take him to emergency Vet if he doesn't improve. Nice job! You basically stole $60 from me!! WHY DIDN'T THE LADY JUST TELL ME THAT ON THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED!!! Horrible people if you ask me. I have READ the REPLY from Blue Paws... that is absolutely NOT what the lady told me on the phone!!! That is a flat out LIE. UPDATE ON HARLEY... I took him home, put Young Living Lemon and Rosemary Essential Oil on his low spine area to fight any infection... 4 hours later he came downstairs to be with the family (1st time since Thurs). I started giving him Coconut Water by syringe every 2 hours as much as he would take in. By Sunday night... HE WAS BACK to EATING!! Today is Wed and he is COMPLETELY back to normal. I am continuing with the Oils and the Coconut Water (he actually loves it now) but I do less each day as he improves. So, $60 at Vet = well, I got the swollen bladder, so that was good! $5 on pure Coconut Water. $10 of oils used... = NO SURGERY NO NOTHING... He's completely fine! AMERICAN'S... DO NOT BE AFRAID OF HOLISTIC APPROCHES. Your fur-babies are just like us, just a smaller package! Don't buy into the lies that Oils cannot be put on cats... I've been doing it 20 years and NONE of my cats have died because of Oils. Coconut Water flushes out stones. Now I've seen the proof for myself.

Amazing people, DOC knows what he's doing. They saved Litas life. And I'll forever be grateful. The way DOC'S face lit up when he seen her walk in for her surgery let me know he truly cares for our babies. Sure there's probably cheaper vets, but I trust DOC. And there not unreasonably priced.

This is the only place my friend could find for her fur baby who needed emergent care. When they found the problem and realized what needed to be done, they were so caring and compassionate from the beginning. When I Went with her to pick up her cat remains, I have never seen a place put so much care and respect into a pet. It brought me to tears. From the moment we arrived. They treated her like family. I love my vet but what I’ve seen I’m seriously considering switching. I would definitely recommend.

I have been going to Blue Paws for about 4 years with my shorkie Isabell. I was always treated kindly by the assistants and by the doctor. They always did the testing that was needed since she was a senior and they gave me a little more time with her. I had to have her put to sleep yesterday and I was shown a lot of care and compassion. I was able to do everything I wanted before and after her death. If I ever get another pet I will be returning to them. I 100% recommend Blue Paws!! If the staff can see this review I just want to say thank you for treating me and my baby so kindly. I will never forget it.
