How to Save Money at Sheehy Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I used to bring my dog here because Dr. Davis is the best vet and if he left his wife's location I would love to continue to use his vetenary services. Dr. Davis gets on the floor with my dog and thoroughly explains things. But unfortunately he is at this practice that lacks customer service and very expensive. It is very hard to reach the staff on your first call, normally have to call numerous times because if you leave a message you won't get a call back till the next day. Numerous times was told that I couldn't leave a message for Dr Davis that I would have make an appointment to get an answer (so they can get their fees of course). Over the last 3 years there was numerous contradictions. For example the most recent during our 6 month check up I asked that the only way to get a script to get a paper one and was told that was correct. Then after the labs come through and a new med was needed they miraculously can call it in to my pharmacy. I will admit I lost my temper pointing out this lack of customer service and won't bring my future pets there and they have denied us services going forward to further prove they care more about business and not the care of my pet. I will truly miss Dr. Davis and hope he leaves there someday.

We absolutely adore Dr. Davis. I mean literally, what an honest to God perfect career for him. We LOVE our pets to pieces but Dr. Davis and their staff love them just as much. They are accommodating, loving, INTELLIGENT, and so tight knit. Pictures say a million words so here’s a before and after photo of our boy only a few minutes before and a few minutes after seeing Dr. Davis, and their amazing staff, after having some stomach issues for a few days. Did I mention they also adore children? They gave my less than happy to be at the vet human child a toy! I mean come on, does this place get any better??? Our sweet Dudley is better than ever and we are so relieved to have a vet that loves us as much as we love them.

I’ve been coming to this vet office for a few years now and I’ve always had the best care here for my two sweet senior cats. During a visit today with my cat who is going through a health decline, Dr. Ellens was very helpful and supportive along with the vet assistant whose name I didn’t catch unfortunately. Dr. Ellens explained exactly what treatment would be done for my cat and didn’t just throw a bill at me without explaining what everything on the bill was for specifically. Highly recommend coming here for your fur babies. ❤️

If you are ever in need of any medical attention for your animals this is the place for you. I have personally taken my animals to Dr. Davis for over 10 years. Although the address may have changed, the treatment is always the same. The time and care he takes to not only set your mind at ease but to use non complicated terms so you actually understand what processes and medical treatment your animal is receiving is beyond anything I have ever encountered. As if I was having a barley pop at my local pub with a good friend. Always a pleasure having him put my mind along with all of my animals physical needs back to where they need to be. It was my pleasure as always and thank you again.

I brought my hedgehog in recently. This is the quickest place i could get her in its a bit of a distance from home. With her being thin and being lethargic more often than usual i was worried. Thank God blood work and all turned out alright. I had to leave my girl there for a couple hours so she could be sedated. This was to be examined and have blood drawn. When I returned I paid the bill but the paperwork said is Belle did great today. I had to ask Denise if I could talk with Dr Sheehy. As Dr Sheehy came walking out to talk to me, I overheard her speaking to someone else saying something to the effect " i dont know what she wants me to tell her, everything looks fine" as if she was bothered to come talk to me. It seems if someone leaves a loved one in your care it's courteous to speak to that person. Also my hedgehog has little nubs for teeth. They are definitely worn down. Dr Sheehy said that they looked fine and that it's not common for hedgehogs teeth to be worn. My point being I have two other hedgehogs that have very healthy teeth. They have little fangs, not at all like Belle's. She seemed knowledgeable of what hedgehogs do but not to knowledgeable about a hedgehog itself. Sorry for the unpopular opinion. I have to say the rest of the staff was kind. Shout out to Denise, as when I arrived a lady was crying, she stopped what she was doing and went to hug her.
