How to Save Money at Allergy, Skin & Ear Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Alyssa was very nice and helpful and was super wonderful with my furbaby. Dr. Bloom was very knowledgeable about what he was talking about and walked us through the steps and made a plan for our furbabys treatment. I definitely recommend this place. A top 10 on my list.

Can’t say enough about how good Dr Bloom and his staff are. They take their time evaluating each pet and go over the treatment plan in detail. Dr Bloom is so nice and he really is an amazing knowledgeable vet, he helped my dog who has a very rare disease and environmental allergies. I highly recommend this clinic if you have an animal with any kind of allergies.

AVOID!!! We took our allergic pitty there approx 7 years ago. She was a hot mess with redness, itching, biting, scratching etc. Long wait times, nice enough staff but it was at least $1000.00 plus for each visit. He wanted us to drug our dog for each appt as she is a timid pitty and was scared. In the end, we never did find out what she was allergic to, it was an endless stream of money for the same drugs over and over. Avoid this cash cow!!!!!

Have a Newfoundland that kept getting hot spots and losing hair. People said change food to…fill in the blank. After checking ended up being an air borne allergy. Twice a month bath with medicated shampoo solved the problem. I cannot say enough good about this clinic.

Today was our first visit with Dr Bloom. We had a great experience with this veterinary clinic from the moment I called to set up the appointment. The person I spoke with on the phone was very thorough and attentive to our situation and I truly felt heard. When we arrived today they had a room ready for us quickly and we were helped right away by Hannah. She was super kind, helpful and patient with my dog who was a bit uneasy. We went over my dog’s history to be sure they had the best information possible to help my pup. Dr. Bloom was able to diagnose my dog without any invasive or painful procedures after a physical examination. The doctor went over his treatment plan and made sure to answer all my questions and made clarifications to ensure we were on the same page so I could effectively help my dog. He didn’t offer any unnecessary or expensive testing or treatments. I actually walked out of this specialty animal dermatology clinic spending less than I would’ve at one of my regular veterinary offices for the same procedure and exam, minus the specialist! So very happy to finally have some answers and a plan for how to treat my big boy and get his very rare autoimmune disease under control. I look forward to our next appointment and will definitely be recommending Dr. Bloom to anyone whose dog is suffering from any allergies or dermatological ailments. My poor dog was suffering for nearly 6 months and none of the other 4 vets we had seen were able to effectively treat or diagnose as they had never seen anything like it before and considered the potential cause too rare to be a possibility.
