How to Save Money at Paris Road Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I would give ZERO stars if I could I will continue to push this issue to the highest level possible. I have been taking my many pets here for several years! My daughter also has 3 pets and has been going over there for roughly the last year! My daughter took her large dog there on 6/15 to get spayed. Prior to surgery she was informed there may be a chance extra anesthesia would be needed. That was perfectly fine. She picked her her baby on the evening of 6/15 and paid her entire bill. She was given a receipt that day with a zero balance after paying $470. Almost 10 days later my daughter gets a phone call from the tech Roneisha, saying that she made a mistake and forgot to bill for the extra anesthesia ($40). My daughter tells her that she is not paying it as her bill was paid in full the day of picking up her pet. How can the company go back and charge her for their mistake, esp 10 days later. I called back on my daughter's behalf and Heather informed me it is normal for them to take 10 days to review the account for accuracy, but yet there was no information or documentation given before hand that said there could be additional charges up to 10 days after surgery is complete. This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional for a company to take their mistake and make it the burden of the customer. Especially in the amount of $40. They are willing to hound loyal customers over their mistake. Heather stated it is a legal mischarge and a valid balance. Welp, Heather NO it is not. You can not legally back charge someone after they received a receipt saying they paid in full for services received on that date of service!! Not only are they losing my daughter and her 3 pets, they are also going to lose my business with my pets. All over the techs $40 error. That is truly just bad business and the company should own up and accept their mistake. It should never be the customer's burden. Futher more Heather was given permission by my daughter to speak with me since she is the account owner and she still says the can't speak to me. If my daughter designates me as her proxy they very well can and better speak to me!! My dog is scheduled for surgey 7/5 I will be canceling that out of fear of the same mistakes. This is the 2nd time I posted this review as the company thinks this is cyber bullying. I've contacted Google. This is a valid review and I will keep posting if they keep removing.

Terrible. Brought my cat for an emergency because the website says open at 8am. The doctors don't come in until 9am. What is the point of opening at 8? Also, the receptionist is the least compassionate person I've ever encountered in a vet practice. No one expects you to magic up a doctor, but could you maybe not be so cold?

Had to take one of my kitties in for some issues. Dr. Rose, once again came to my rescue. He is a very compassionate and knowledgeable doctor. I can not say enough good things about this veterinarian clinic. One of my pups had to have emergency surgery today. The doctor worked her into his schedule and was taken care of with efficient professionalism. The whole staff are terrific! Great doctors and staff. Both are knowledgeable and compassionate. I highly recommend these veterinarians.
