How to Save Money at Animal Doctors
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This is a very difficult review to write because throughout the years, the staff have always been fantastic to me and my pets. However, I am forced to separate my thoughts on the staff from my thoughts on the Animal Doctors business. This business closed without notice or explanation, going complete radio silence for weeks on end. While I don't know what is going on or what could be done differently, the fact is that the business did a complete disservice to its patients and I know that many wonderful employees are no doubt very bothered by that. However, the sad reality of the situation is that Animal Doctors has lost my trust. I wish the employees that had nothing to do with this unexplained closure the absolute best, and wish the employee(s) who had a hand in its closure - if any such person exists - the full extent of the justice that they deserve.

When they had to close for maintenance they put out a notice and a place to go to instead but when DEA came knocking they went radio silent on all of their people and pets. I understand that they possibly couldn't but my dog could've died without her meds. I don't know if the staff could've handled the situation any better but if they could've I wish they would've. The staff are great but of you have a high needs pet get back up vets just incase. Best wishes to animal docs

This used to be the best place to take your pet but since Doctor Gayhart left it's terrible. Dr Gayhart and her staff sincerely loved all the animals and treated everyone like family but now it's just a business and the new people only care about money not pets

Animal Doctors has a top-notch doctor and top notch staff. Every time I go in they love my kids. They are very thorough, professional, and reasonable with their cost. I have been taken my kids there for several years now and I have never had a bad experience. My babies go in for shots, check ups, and surgeries the whole 9 yards and Animal Doctors always outshines every other vet. I have three Pitbulls and nobody is afraid to handle them or love on them.

They've been closed with no notice for about a month now. I had to take my dog to the er to get her seizure medicine because they lost their prescriber license. Everytime I checked or called they said they were closed. I went one time in person to check and was told they'd be open the next week but never were. I asked them to leave a note, I've tried contacting Dr Barnett directly, and haven't heard anything. I checked their Facebook page recently and the post that had comments from the community asking what's going on has been removed. I've been going here for both of my pets for the last 5 years but I've moved on out of necessity. Idk what's going and hope everything's okay but recent events have caused me to lose trust. Edit:upon further investigation it seems that the dea got involved about a month ago. Staff if you're reading this please put out a public statement to the community as we are owed one. So many of us have been going here for many years, some generations.
