How to Save Money at Springmill Pet Wellness Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have taken all of my rabbits here to get fixed and NEVER had any issues! I have 11 rabbits and counting! I will be taking my newest 2 there to get fixed as well when they are old enough. The staff is so friendly and so caring. The Dr that sees rabbits is extremely knowledgeable and helped give us guidance when we had an accidental litter. We are so grateful that we have found such a good vet. I just wish I lived closer!

Finally a vet that took care of my dog's needs - he is finally getting better after finding out he is allergic to fleas (that we never saw)! He is finally healing and is happy-go-lucky once again! Thank you for your no-nonsense treatment and plan to get him on track and feeling better!

The office is always great at getting my little girl in. Allergies are no fun but Dr. Dechand is so good with my cat (who hates needles). Everyone at the office is nice including Bonnie who set up the appointment and Trevor who tried to make my cat more at ease while she got her shot. Great office and great service! Thank you for making my little girl feel better!

I have 3 German Shepherds that I absolutely adore and mean the world to me, hence I spent a lot of time finding the best vet for us. Dr Dechand and his team have looked after my dogs for many years and done so with a high degree of knowledge, experience, skill, compassion and a true dedication to the wellbeing of my pets and indeed, as a consequence, my own wellbeing! One of my dogs has multiple, difficult chronic health conditions, which can sometimes result in devastating consequences. He is, thanks to Dr Dechand and his team, healthier than many dogs without any such medical issues and has a full, happy, ball chasing, active life. In short, Springmill has seen every imaginable and some downright mind boggling, medical misadventure that 3 large, active, social and inquisitive dogs can possibly get themselves into and dealt with each situation expertly. I am extremely grateful to and for everyone there. I also take advantage of the Pet Prime Membership, for all 3 dogs and it has worked out exceptionally well for me.

I took my cat in and had a good experience so I decided to take my dog in. I took in a stool sample because it looked like she passed a worm. The vet tech was very nice, otherwise I would rate 1 star for my experience. The veterinarian comes in with an instant attitude. He wasn't listening to what I had to say and made me repeat myself. He was pushing for a fecal test even though he saw that it wasn't a worm, and was refraining from telling me it was not a worm. It was difficult to get that answer out of him. I was trying to explain her symptoms and he was getting frustrated with me and very impatient. He went to examine her and she screamed as loud as she could. I have NEVER heard my dog make that noise before. This is by far the worst experience I've had at a vet. Even if you're having a bad day, do not treat your clients like this. If you come here, specifically ask for someone other than Jim Dechand if you want someone who actually cares about you and your pet. I had extreme anxiety because he was being rude and he brushed it off. I never write bad reviews, but this was terrible! The most irritating part was having to pay after the Vet made my dog scream in terror, with no checkup because he ended the session early due to her screaming. I was only in there for a few minutes.
