The care they display towards our pets is genuine. They take the time to listen and also explain things well. Very happy with all the Staff.

I hate making bad views but I’m just so disappointed. I have taken my cat here a handful of times and every time they prescribe him a new medicine that does absolutely nothing for him. Dr.Groth, has been nothing but unhelpful; whether it’s explaining his diagnosis or was to help improve his health. As soon as I went to a different vet they immediately gave me a prognosis and an antibiotic that helped him within hours. This vet has only caused more stress, a sicker cat and a lot of bills. Alone I would rate the receptionists a 5/5! They are always very sweet.

My dog was a patient here for nearly two years. She was diagnosed with a terminal condition and we were told multiple times that when the unfortunate day came to put her down, no appointment was necessary, as they “understood the potential urgency of the situation”. Well, when the terrible day came (7/25/22) I called the office and explained that my dog had, at best, hours to live and was clearly bleeding internally. I asked if I was able to bring her in asap to end her suffering. The tech on the phone said, “We are too busy today. I can get her in next week.” Again, I stated the urgency of the situation, and was met with an empty “…sorry…”. Absolutely zero regard or empathy. After a very awkward pause, I expected a suggestion of another office or maybe a “Let me see what I can do”. Nothing. So instead, I called Bethany Animal Hospital in Sycamore, which is my former vet. Immediately upon answering my call I was met with compassion and genuine sympathy. When I explained the situation, I was told I could come right away and that wanted it to be as convenient and comfortable for us as possible. That is exactly what they did, and made a horrible day a little less awful. They handled every step of the procedure in the most comfortable way imaginable. I cannot recommend Bethany enough. After many many appointments and thousands of dollars spent, I will not be taking my pets to South Town Animal Hospital again.
