How to Save Money at Golf Rose Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We absolutely love Golf Rose Animal Hospital ~ specifically Dr Amanda Haase. She is an extremely kind, knowledgeable & compassionate veterinarian. An overall wonderful person in every way. We started going to Golf Rose in 2007 and have continued to go ever since. Dr Haase has gone above and beyond to help our family and all of our fur babies in every situation. She has always been so honest with us about everything. She helped us keep our babies happy & healthy. We’ve experienced the loss of a couple of our girls along the way, but they lived very long lives under her care, well beyond what we thought was possible. We love every single thing about Dr Haase and her staff. I know that there are other very competent doctors at their location as well, but she knows all of our dogs and us, so it’s so easy to continue to see her. We highly recommend Golf Rose Animal Hospital to everyone. Thank you for loving our dogs

I was recommended by a friend for this location based on their professionalism and hospitality and they exceeded all expectations and then some! What an amazing experience from a hospital that has all the details spot on! Already made follow-up appointments for Fito my 6 week old kitten

Took great care of my 3 year old pitbull after getting a nasty cut on her joint. They were fast, efficient and showed love to her. Great staff all around.

Worst experience ever! My dog throw up what appeared to be blood around 7 am on a Sunday morning. We took him in I went in first to see if the veterinarian could take a look at what was thrown up. Clarissa was at the front desk she had no compassion what so ever. Told me that it would be $250.00 for the emergency visit and anything else would be extra. We paid up front and they put us in a room at about 7:40 am The vet tech came and went over what was going on. My dog is a difficult dog and not very friendly with strangers. We asked if they could bring a muzzle in so it would be easier for the vet to take a look. The tech left the room at about 8:10am and no one came back in the room. The front staff was at the desk laughing and being very loud. We waited in the room until 8:53 and finally just walked out. No one at the front desk asked us why we were leaving. No one called us to see why we left. I saw a charge from them for another $2.00 and I called the office to find out why and they advised me that it was a mistake and that they were refunded me the whole $250.00. Not one person ever asked me how my dog was or apologized! Nothing! All they care about is money, which is very clear by all the notices on their board in the room. Not sure if they have new owners because I took my dog there in March of 2021 and I could not have been happier with the service.

disappointed and frustrated with the services provided by Golf Rose Animal Hospital. Our experience with them was nothing short of a nightmare. We took our beloved puppy in for breathing problems, hoping to receive quality care and support for our furry family member. To begin with, the exorbitant charges they imposed on us were outrageous. During the first visit, they shamelessly demanded a staggering $2300, leaving us feeling exploited and financially burdened. We reluctantly paid, trusting that it would lead to a proper resolution of our puppy's health issues. However, not only did they fail to diagnose the problem correctly, but they also discharged us with the same persistent issue still affecting our puppy. It was evident that they had not put in the necessary effort to address the root cause of the problem, and their incompetence was glaringly apparent. Incredibly, we were compelled to return for a second visit, foolishly thinking that they would learn from their mistakes and provide better care this time. But alas, we were wrong. They demanded another $1700 from us, and to our absolute horror, they even suggested putting our beloved puppy down! The callousness and disregard for our pet's well-being were utterly shocking. Thankfully, we decided to take our puppy back home and give her some time to recover on her own. To our relief, within 24 hours, he was back less than 72 hours to get Field another $1600. For antibiotics and oxygen. Can’t believe that the doctor wanted me to put my puppy down that Dr should be ashamed of him self . You lucky I lost your business card buddy, but my last name is Lara you know who I am you have my credit card on file American Express so please if you want to talk about email how about you call me or you email me you have my number I’ll even put up a picture so you can remember him Canlite your staff was very helpful nice lady and the last doctor was seen. She was also very understanding. But I definitely do not recommend this place you will find other than just don’t care about taking your money imagine paying $4300 just for antibiotics and a little bit of oxygen
