How to Save on Veterinary Costs at North Avenue Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Had a wonderful first visit here! I brought my puppy in to get a second opinion on a health condition she was previously diagnosed with. Dr.Chada was very kind and got down on the floor with my puppy before the exam so she would feel more comfortable and at ease. She did a thorough exam and explained in detail what she was seeing. I left feeling confident and comfortable knowing that my puppy’s health was in good hands!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Cherrick. From the moment I walked in, she was kind, professional, and genuinely caring. Dr. Cherrick took the time to explain everything clearly and treated my dog with so much patience and compassion—it truly made a stressful situation much easier. I feel confident knowing my pet is in such capable and caring hands. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate veterinarian!

My cat and I had a fantastic experience here! I’m a new cat owner and this was my first time taking my sweet baby to the vet on my own. I was so nervous but the front desk, Stephanie and Sharmela, were very calm and helpful. The doctor too, Dr. Doan, was very sweet and patient with my baby since she was being a little sassy. She answered all my questions, was gentle and lovely to my pet, and made recommendations for best ways to keep my pet in good health. It was all so nice and easy! I had nothing to be nervous about! I’d recommend this place to any pet owner!

Heartbroken and deeply disappointed. Back in April, my dog Bruce was severely attacked by a German shepherd named Wolf— which turned out to be the manager’s own dog — while we were at North Avenue Veterinary Clinic. The situation was handled terribly. Despite the severity of Bruce’s injuries, the clinic did little to take responsibility or ensure proper follow-up care beyond covering immediate costs. There was no real accountability or empathy from management. Bruce spent his last four months with a scar and a shaved side as a constant reminder of that incident. He’s now gone, and I have to live with knowing that his final months were marked by unnecessary pain and trauma that could have been prevented or better cared for. I truly hope no other pet owner has to go through what I did. A veterinary clinic should be a place of safety and compassion — this experience was neither.

North Ave Animal Hospital has always been an amazing care center for our pets (going on 20 years now), every single person there is compassionate and kind. It means a great deal to the animals that are in a stressful situation that every interaction is soothing. Couldn’t recommend more.
