How to Save Money at Seven Oaks Pet Hospital Wesley Chapel

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We brought our baby Toto here for a really bad bladder blockage emergency and they immediately took him to the back within minutes of us walking through the door. They took great care of him and got him all fixed up. They were mostly good on letting us know what was going while he was there (he was there during day and at VEG overnight). The only issue we had was the lack of communication between the Sunday crew and the rest of the staff but they still took amazing care of him and called whoever they needed to to get the information needed. We will definitely be bring my animal back here again.

First let me say that Leonor at the front desk is absolutely amazing! She is a people person with a great attitude! She brings a lot of ease to the people and the animals with her bubbly personality! A true asset to the clinic! That said, my first experience was a bit tough ! However, I have since been much more satisfied with the staff ! It was hard for me after having the same vet for 43 + years! I have been rescuing for over 30! Changing g vets is hard, but getting a bit easier! Thank you seven Oaks for helping to make it better! Thank you Leonor for your wonderful personality and expertise at your job!

After some not so great experiences trying to get affordable emergency care for my cat today, we finally stopped by here as a last ditch effort. Not only were we seen right away, but the vet (Dr.Jones) and his vet tech were very compassionate with us as well as understanding. They spoke to us like we were humans and not just another number that they need to push through the door, and I truly appreciate that, especially since this was a sensitive time. I am always worried about going to pet hospitals like these, because it's not uncommon to walk out with 10k in bills, but this was not the case here. The cost was reasonable and fair. The vet was very honest with us but in a compassionate way. He told us what we needed to hear and gave us some options and a treatment plan so we feel more prepared to handle what needs to come next with my cat. My only suggestion is to maybe get more comfy chairs (I joke.... Sort of lol 😂) other than that, everyone here was wonderful and I am grateful for the help we received.

We have been using Seven Oaks Pet Hospital since our dog, Max was 8 weeks old. Everyone has always been so kind, friendly and helpful. We get reminders when Max is due for his shots, they offer plans that are affordable, and when we need to make an appointment, we do not have to wait long. There is always a time available, including during the weekend!

This was my pets first time being groomed by Debbie. She immediately came out to greet us and was very concerned to do nothing but please both Lassie and myself. The Lead Receptionist, Leonor, gave me a warm welcome and enjoyed seeing Lassie. She had pics taken of Lassie throughout her grooming to ease my mind and feel confident Debbie was giving loving care to my Lassie. Treats were given as well. 5 Stars to both Leonor and Debbie.
