How to Save Money at Animal Wellness Centre of Wesley Chapel

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

HORRIBLEEEEEEE HORRIBLEEEEEEEE HORRIBLEEEEEEEE DONT TAKE YOUR BABY HERE!!! This people dont know what they are doing ! They gave me the wrong medicine for the issue of my dog . They charged me 300 dollars for a visit & a fecal exam , to later on give me a medicine that wasnt even for what my dog had. On top of that !!! The instructions on the medicine & what we were told was WRONG! . This people will just guess what your animal has & give you whatever they think its okay. . So you come back & pay again . I know what im talking about because i took my dog to another vet & they couldnt even believe the medicine i was giving my dog & how i was giving it to him . My puppy could’ve DIE!!!! Guys this is so serious . THIS PEOPLE SHOULD GET SHUT DOWNNNNNNNNN . Let me reply here : The fecal exam was obviously not done but i did get charge for it . & if you guys DID IT ! Its even worst because it means you guys DONT KNOW WHAT YOU DOING! . The medication you guys gave me was for another type of problem !. So NO!!!! The problem was not the weight of my puppy! The problem was the WRONG MEDICATION!. Like i said WE TOOK HIM SOMEWHERE ELSE & guess what? The actual medication worked in a matter of 3 days!!! . Im actually not leaving this here , i will file a formal complaint to shut you guys down & not be able to do more harm to other animals . I will not call you because the problem here is not even money. The PROBLEM HERE IS THAT I TOOK MY SICK DOG TO GET BETTER AND I WENT HOME WITH 300 dollars less & the wrong medication. THIS IS A HUGEEEEEEE ISSUE!!!!! My dog is doing great thanks to me for caring for him and taking him somwhere they actually know what they are doing! . So your polite & “professional response” means nothing . We ARE TALKING ABOUT A LIFE HERE ! Not a car , or a bike , or something replaceable.

Called to make an check up appointment for my cat and during the call, Jess just hung up on me. I said nevermind to the blood work because they wanted to charge $300 for blood work.. i have never paid over $130 for blood work at any vet. Rude first impression, money hungry.

Dr. Hong is absolutely a great veterinarian. Services are priced respectively, staff very personable & caring to our pets! Our veterinarian of 10+ years. Sends greeting cards for those special days. Appointments held on time, not rushed to meet quota. We're always learning how to give the best care to our furry kids!! A delightful experience consistently.

The facility was very clean and the staff was very professional and super sweet Dr. Hong was excellent with my animals. unfortunately one of my cats was very very sick Dr Hong to come in and we found out that he was in stage renal failure. Dr Hong knew that I was extremely upset and he treated him that day and sent me home with a bag of saline with some sterile needles and some medicine for him to take. The last time I took my baby in he was in the process of dying I felt that Dr Hong took advantage of my grief because He again sent me home with over $400 worth of supplies knowing full Well that Kobi had One day two at the most and he sent me home with all the supplies I never used it because it wasn't going to do any good. My husband found out that Dr Hong charged me all this money knowing full well but the cat would only have one to two days at best left I feel that he took advantage of my grief and made money off the deal unfortunately my husband called and they said we can't take it back and my husband said he will take it back because we have unopened supplies and you sent her home knowing full well that the cat was dying. finally My husband just went over to the facility and demanded our money back and they finally gave it back to him. unfortunately I have lost trust in Dr Hong as a result of that incident. it's really sad because I really really liked Dr Hong and his staff is awesome. maybe one day I can get past this and maybe I'll go back but right now I felt betrayed.
