How to Save Money at Trinity Oaks Pet Wellness Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our dogs were chasing each other throughout the backyard, like usual, when Ryker ran into a metal garden stake sticking out of the ground. He came back inside with a huge gash in his chest, a chunk of skin and muscle hanging there. I knew he needed a vet and as soon as possible so I got him into the car. We’re out in Weeki Wachee and it was 3PM. We haven’t established a new vet in this area and I didn’t know where to go. I loaded him in the car and just started driving. I Googled and called local vets but most close at 5 and emergency vets didn’t open until 5:30. Come to find out, there actually aren't any 24/7 emergency vets in the Brooksville/Spring Hill area. So I called our old vet's office, Trinity Oaks Pet Wellness Center, and they said if I can get him to them before they close, they will do as much as they can for him until the emergency vet down in Palm Harbor opened. We got to Trinity Oaks and they said he definitely needed a surgery that would take too long for them to accomplish before they closed. They were able to fashion a temporary bandage around him, get some pain meds in him, and send us on his way. We had the most compassionate staff every step of the way. When we got there, I swear everyone filled the room to see Ryker, loving on him and trying their best to console him while we discussed which emergency vet to go to. You can tell that they really care about the animals and the people. I can't thank you all enough.

Long over due review….I moved here 6 years ago & after having the same Vet for over 15 yrs where I use to live, I was nervous! I took a chance after researching & I’m so glad I did, it is one of the best choices I’ve ever made! From the smiles, amazing greeting & help from Anna at the front (she is the most passionate animal lover I know) to ALL the techs & assistants (Emily, Becky, Victoria & Candace just to name a few) who come say hello to us, it’s like family! Most importantly Dr Trakas cares for them & recently both of my dogs have had surgery within a month of each other, which was mentally & physically scary for them & me. Dr T’s skill, knowledge, love and compassion is beyond words! When Dr Trakas is helping other fur kids Dr Watson steps right in if needed, she’s amazing as well and It’s comforting knowing there’s a stacked team that possess what it takes to care for our precious kids! My kids absolutely love going to the Vet. Screams can be heard in excitement before we even pull Into the parking lot. Love you all & thank you.

We have been a client for many many years since the office opened and they have seen three of our dogs grow up. We love Dr. Watson! Over the years the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. They have a top notch group of ladies that love on our Rosie. Especially Rosies’s BFF Miss Ania who spoils her rotten! Would definitely recommend Trinity Oaks Pet Wellness Center.

Can't say enough about this practice! All the Doctors are compassionate and I trust my pups in their hands 100%. We had a puppy with a rare-for-her-breed medical issue and they diagnosed her right away despite it being unheard of in a dog her size. I got a second opinion with a specialist just to be safe who questioned their diagnosis at first but after examining her they, too, confirmed it! What really left an impression on me was Trinity Oaks Pet Wellness went out of their way during the months she was acute to ensure they gave us discounts or tried to save us from costly procedures knowing we had already dropped thousands on getting our puppy the top care. Lastly, we had to put our senior dog down last week. Dr. Watson cried with us as did a few vet techs as we made the hard decision to end her suffering. They made sure her final meal was yummy ice cream with Nutella and whip cream! This level of compassion is hard to come by and for that we will be forever indebted to this practice and its amazing people. Thank you TOPWC, we love you all.

Very good vet that cares for the animals and is very thorough when it comes to emergency issues. We brought our dog here after he was having some issues and they did everything possible to prescribe various methods to avoid surgery.
