How to Save Money at Northampton Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I love north hampton, the staff and Dr Randle are amazing! Our 4 year old blue pit has had a skin condition since he became our fur baby. But Dr Randle and the staff at North Hampton took the time to actually figure out what the underlying issues were and 1 months of two different antibiotics and our Shadow is a happy healthy no longer Frito smelling boy! North Hampton Animal Clinic will be out vet for as long as we have fur babies! Thanks so much for fixing our boy North Hampton & Dr Randle! We love you!

Thank you, Northampton Animal Clinic for being there for us yesterday. Angel, our cat was very sick. I called some vets about putting him down, and Northampton was incredible. The receptionist was very sweet. She got us in within 45 minutes. Everyone there was so compassionate and accommodating. Thank you for helping us through a difficult time Dr. Eric Randall and staff!! If we ever get another pet, you will be out vet! (The pricing was very reasonable too.) Angel, you were a very sweet cat. You will be missed!

Time after time the professional staff at North Hampton truly cares for our girls. After moving here to Florida, it was a little nerve wracking choosing a vet for our pups since we’ve had the same vet for 28 years in Maryland. They never disappoint. Dr Eric and Dr Oreiley are the best vets we have ever experienced. They take time and listen and research if need to be to find answers to our questions/concerns. The back staff is so NICE , always explaining what they are doing. and the girls up front are always professional and friendly when answering the phones. Greeting us with huge smiles when we walk in. I just can’t say enough about North Hampton.

Dr. Eric Randell is so caring and considerate, I can't say enough about him. I am a sr. citizen on a tight budget with a diabetic cat. I called in today to get my cat's insulin and was not sure I was going to have enough to wait until their online pharmacy could get it to their office next. week(it's Friday). Dr. Eric then went to the trouble of calling an ER clinic and waiting on hold at least 10 min. and giving them my name and what I need in case I cannot get it in time, I can go there. Then he called an online pharmacy for me and gave them the RX to get it there to make sure my cat does not go without his insulin. Dr. Eric goes above and beyond for me and my diabetic cat, Bear. Thank you Dr. Eric for your caring attitude as a Vet!❤🙏😍🥳

Dr. Eric and Dr. O’Riley have been awesome in taking care of my dog and cat. Beau (dog) has a Health issue that was unknown prior to adoption. No one at NorthHampton has been judgmental about the situation. They’ve been completely honest when it came to the condition and their experience. They’ve both called to check up on both animals. I’m happy to trust them with the care of my babies. They won’t oversell you on products that aren’t needed, or try to convince you they know absolutely everything without checking resources.
