How to Save Money at Animal Hospital of Beulah

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr John has been our Vet for many pets for many years during routine, trauma & high drama, and heartbreaking visits. He has been a kind, knowledgeable friend and professional through each! I’m certain he will give you, your family and all your fur babies the same compassionate and state-of-the-art care he has so generously provided mine!

The team at Animal Hospital of Beulah are wonderful. We are new to the area and stumbled across them when one of our cats became ill and passed away. Their sensitivity, caring approach to treating their little furry patient as well as “treating” the pet parent was wonderful during that difficult time. They followed up to see how we were doing after he passed; it was so important to feel they cared about us being okay as well our little pets. We have taken our other cat to them, as well as our new cat and each visit has been great. The doctors and staff make each visit wonderful! They spend time answering questions and helping the experience not to feel rushed. Thank you Animal Hospital of Beulah for all you do to support the community!

Awesome caring staff! Can’t say enough about how they helped our family in times of need. They are very passionate about helping your animal. Dr. Sam and the staff worked hard to save the pup we adopted and he caught parvo. Never had a vet hospital call to check on him, continue to monitor his progress and saved his life. Dr. John and staff was very understanding when we had to put down our family girl of 19 years. Can’t say enough for what they have done for us in last 3 weeks.

It has taken me a while to post this as I have experienced a great loss. I honestly cannot thank Doctor Cornett and his staff at Animal Hospital of Beulah. My Chocolate Lab, Jax started having nose bleeds in the fall of 2021. We went to see his regular vet and they said it could be allergies or cancer, WAIT WHAT?! Cancer??? and sent me on my way. I then decided it was time for a second opinion, so I reached out to another vet in the area. They ran several tests this time, but ultimately came to the same conclusion and that I would need to do further testing before they did anything. Meanwhile, all this time Jax's nose bleeds were getting worse and more frequent. Finally a family member recommended this vet because of their honesty and care for animals. They said that they are straight forward and that was what I needed. No one would touch his nose without further test but this Doctor did. He said that he would go in and remove whatever was causing the nose bleeds and that we could test it to see if it was cancer or not. Finally, someone willing to do something! Sure enough after his first surgery, my worst nightmare came true, it was in fact cancer. A very aggressive type of cancer. After three surgeries and almost two years of fighting this cancer, it eventually won. I had to take him to the Emergency Vet the night he passed, they were truly amazed when I told them how long he had this cancer, they said they don't see dogs living two weeks much less two years. I say all of this to give credit where credit is due. This vet gave me two more years that I will forever cherish. Jax was my boy, a true companion I had for 8 wonderful years. He was the best dog and loyal to a fault. Thank you for caring for my boy, and for giving me two more years.
