How to Save Money at MedVet Jupiter (open 24/7)

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Unfortunately we’ve had to utilize their services far too often but this team is HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!! From the staff at the desk, techs, doc’s, and everyone/anyone in between, they are all phenomenal! They all pour their hearts and souls into each patient & their family members. They give me a peace of mind when my babies are in their hands. They not only deliver excellent quality care but they love my babies through their stay just as this momma does! I’m truly thankful for each and every one of their team members!

I would like to start by saying this place from the front desk to the vet technicians to the doctors are first class. The compassion that was showed to us for 5 days was something i will never forget. A big thank you to Dr Katz and Dr Jenner for showing us compassion, and never giving up on our Bodhi. Kelsey our tech was amazing. We may not have had the outcome we wanted but we know we were in the best place for our Bodhi. We want to thank everyone at MedVet for all you do. The Tamasi Family.

My wife and I arrived just after midnight with a very sick German Shepherd suffering from GDV/Torsion-Bloat. Having been through this years ago with Great Danes, I didn’t think his chances of survival were good. However, Dr. Torre stabilized him, prevented further shock, and vented the gases in his stomach. Shortly after being called out in the middle of the night, Dr. Baum began surgery to right his stomach, and remove his bleeding spleen, finishing a few hours later. His follow-up care was with Dr. Pisano and all of the amazing techs. They kept us apprised of his care and progress, and promptly answered our calls over the next few days. I cannot thank all of you for saving his life, he is a dear member of our family, and we are grateful for the professional and compassionate care he received.

My oldest dog, Daisy, goes to Dr Toni Yang for physical therapy. She had a bladder infection, it was Sunday, so I took her to the emergency vet there. Costs more, best money I ever spent. As part of the exam, the MD did a quick look ultrasound, found a huge tumor in her spleen. This is what killed my last 2 Labs, but this one hadn't ruptured, which is generally fatal. Diagnosed on Sunday, operated on Wednesday, home Thursday. 2 weeks later, the pathology report came back benign, only 20% are. She is happy and more active than before. Surgeons Latimer and Padron, the ER physician that scanned her, and Dr Yang, who watched over her while she was there saved my Daisy girl's life. All of the staff from CR at the front to all the nurses and vet techs. She is 15 years old. Not ready to go yet. Thank you everyone!

We had a horrible experience with Dr. Latimer- causing pain and suffering for our Rhodesian ridgeback, ending up with a bacterial infection after surgery for a broken ankle. We had to take her to another pet specialty hospital to have the screws and plate removed, infection resolved, and another surgery to fix her ankle. The entire ordeal was horrific and painful. Please do not take your pets to this clinic as I would not want anyone else to experience what we had to go through.
