How to Save Money at Justin Bartlett Animal Hospital Greenacres

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Although my dog wasn’t able to make it.. they were throughout with the care of my little best friend. Thank you Nurse Sara for holding my baby like she was yours. Thank you Doctor Z for keeping me posted in my dogs health but specially for being honest and asking me to seek for a place with higher equipment. Betty and I will forever thank you for all the help

My dog wasn’t feeling well & our regular vet was unable to accommodate us last minute. I was able to schedule an appointment same day and the service was great! Everyone was so friendly, and the breakdown of the treatment plan made Me feel that they cared and actually were trying to solve the issues! I plan on returning and possibly switching vets since the care was so great and affordable!

I love the staff here, very warm and welcoming. The young woman at the front desk is incredibly sweet, and has an amazing personality! They're pretty busy, so you might have to wait awhile, but it's worth it.

I am not used to giving negative opinions but in this case I am going to do it, my dog was a patient of theirs for a while and everything went well until now that they upset me a lot, I went because of an overweight problem in my dog and I came out with several tests, due to suspicion of cancer, when the results came back they were positive, high risk of cancer, and of course I collapsed with the news, because my dog is like my daughter, she is part of our family and a diagnosis like this hurts a lot, then I realized that the results were from another dog, I complained to them and they assured me again that it was a laboratory error when sending the results but that they were from my dog, they ordered an ultrasound at the hospital and they did it, there I went through a I was very upset with Mr. DANIEL, at the reception, he was very rude to me, he treated me very badly, and he even voted me out of there and told me that he was not going to help me anymore, I don't know what help he was referring to, because I was a Another patient he had to attend to, the attention was terrible and I was suffering from the cancer diagnosis, I went to another veterinarian, who was honest and I repeated the exam and what do you think? Thank God my dog doesn't have cancer or anything, it's a shame that a veterinarian lends himself to such a thing, forgetting his oath and losing his sense of humanity, I'm still trying to say this great upset that they put us through. Everything I leave it to God

Our vet decided he was too busy to help our cat. By the time we got to this company the damage was too late. They jumped in and did all they could do and not worry about cost before care. They are 100% animals first. But if you are pleased try to help with donations. They have become our new vet.
