How to Save Money at Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers - Fort Myers, FL

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I’m a firm believer in recognizing businesses that go above and beyond for their customer. My pride and joy, mochi fell very ill on Tuesday and I rushed him to Fetch on the recommendation of my primary vet after finding a urinary blockage on his X-ray. They knew who we were as soon as we walked in, they rushed him back and that’s where Wendy and Iylssa came in- I was a wreck when I first arrived, as any pet owner knows that feeling… they both were so incredibly patient with me as I cried on their desk. They comforted me and assured me that mochi was in good hands. They are very upfront with pricing and gave me a very accurate estimate of what the costs could be. ***SIDE NOTE- Pet owners, it is crucial to invest in pet insurance. It truly is a life saver when these unexpected illnesses come up***Dr Davidson brought me into a room and explained everything that was going on and what she was going to be doing. She is just an incredible human. She explained everything in terms that I could understand. You can tell she really has compassion for her furry patients. I was so thankful for her clear explanations, open communication and just pure compassion. She called me throughout the day to give updates, especially after the surgery. The staff goes beyond the amazing doctors as well. Mitey, Connor + Kayla spent so much time nursing mochi and showering him with endless love. Unfortunately, mochi was in the hospital on his first birthday, but these amazing caretakers threw mochi a birthday party 🥹 they sent me photos and everything. I was shocked at how much they cared. I understand they are running a business, and some hospitals forget that we are only human and we really love our pets but they sometimes lack empathy and compassion. Not Fetch. I was at ease knowing that he was cared for like he was their own cat. They let me go in the back to visit him whenever I wanted. I was really appreciative of that as a cat mom I wanted my baby with me 24/7. On mochis last night in the hospital, Dr Guyure called me with updates, and called me nice and early to let me know that HE WAS READY TO GO HOME!!! I was ecstatic and ran there right away. His nighttime nurses Christian, Imaryis, Karenis were amazing and sent me photos throughout the night. Overall, I am HIGHLY satisfied with Fetch, 100% will always recommend them for your furry friend if you find yourself needing emergency care. The facility is beautiful as well. Very well maintained and CLEAN. Thank you so much for saving my baby Mochi. He says thank you as well 🙏💙

I didn’t have great experience here at this clinic my dog had bit my neighbors dog and he had a hole that was bleeding after altercation so I went with my neighbor around 8 pm to make sure his dog was going to be ok didn’t get out until 11pm they gave the pup an X-ray and some pain meds to go home with said they might have to do surgery to put it’s closer together bone wise in the inside never said anything about being popped out of place just that it might be a tendon in his leg or nerve but that he didn’t have a facture. Also said there was a surgen there that could amputate the leg because they didn’t have the right splint to put the pup in. They recommended us to go somewhere else but yet charged us almost $960.30 Also they didn’t even try to stitch or wrap the poor pups legs so he was still bleeding when we left I as a pet owner that was worried as well as my neighbor asked them if they could do something about it all they said was we don’t want to touch it because we don’t want it to get infected but yet I thought that’s what the antibiotics was for I might be wrong but even if it was wrapped until we could take the poor pup to his primary doctor but nope not even that the pup cried all night and had blood in his bed pain meds I believe worked for a little and come to find out the next day when we took him he has his elbow was dislocated and he has to have surgery to put back in place. So the only thing I could say about this place is thank you for not helping us figure it out in 3 hrs that we waited and that I will definitely not be bringing my pets to this clinic I’m just upset at the fact that they basically did nothing to help the poor pup it doesn’t matter that cost it matters that my neighbor wanted to make sure his baby was going to be ok but in this case he was upset that his baby was still hurting and crying all night.

The overnight staff on Saturday Oct 7 were all amazing. I want to specially congratulate Dr. Moin, the tall boy tech (I cant remember his name it was Hispanic) and his colleague Ashly for their very detailed care and compassion with my girlfriend’s pup

So so grateful for the entire team at fetch. We were visiting from Miami with our 7 month old puppy who accidentally ate some (very toxic) grapes. They were able to check us in, explain the process thoroughly, and found the grapes before they were digested. Thank you to the everyone at Fetch - especially Dr.Muresan who truly made us feel so comfortable from start to finish. 10/10 recommend and would definitely make this my go-to clinic if I lived in Fort Myers!
