How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Animal Medical Center
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian
Choosing a veterinarian is an important decision for pet parents. A strong vet relationship is built on trust, communication, and understanding your pet’s individual needs.
Experience
Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.
Emergency Care Procedures
It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.
Communication Preferences
Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.
Breed Specific Health Considerations
Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.
Facility Tour
If available, touring the clinic can help you and your pet feel more comfortable before the first visit.

Our good boy, Jed, was a patient at AMC for about two years. During that time, we found the staff and Dr. Wilson to be great for Jed's routine care. But two weeks ago, we brought him in for what we thought was an infected salivary gland. After an exam and sample collection, the vet told us it was probably lymphoma. She gave me a brochure for a pet cancer center, told me to "stay off the internet about lymphoma," and said we should "be prepared for difficult conversations." Those conversations -- or any discussion about Jed's situation -- never came. After waiting for results for nine days (over a long weekend, granted), I finally called the clinic. I was passed on to a vet tech, who rattled off Jed's results and asked me how we wanted to proceed. That's it. I asked for a call from Dr. Wilson (twice, over the next two days), but that call never came. Jed passed away exactly two weeks after our visit to Dr. Wilson. The outcome would have been the same whether we ever got to speak with Dr. Wilson or not, but it was a terrible feeling to be left on our own. A five minute call would have made a big difference. All a long way of saying that if your pet is relatively healthy, or if you're confidant and knowledgeable in making medical decisions on your own, then AMC is probably a great clinic for you. I don't know if we fell through the cracks (or maybe that's how it normally works when a dog has cancer). But it didn't seem right.

Dr. Wilson is, without question, the most compassionate and thorough veterinarian we have ever had. She never rushes through an appointment. She takes the time to listen to every concern, asks thoughtful and thorough questions, and makes sure she fully understands what is going on before recommending treatment. One of the things I appreciate most is how she interacts with the animals. She gets down on the floor with them, patiently earns their trust, and makes them feel safe and comfortable. She also explains every available treatment option in a way that’s easy to understand and truly respects the pet owner’s decisions. She never pressures you into one course of action, which is something I’ve experienced with other veterinarians. Instead, she provides the information you need and supports you in making the best decision for your pet. Our most recent visit reminded me why we will never go anywhere else. I had my two-year-old granddaughter with me, and she absolutely adores our dog. When they took him to the treatment area, she became very upset and started crying. Dr. Wilson went above and beyond by bringing a sweet little kitten into the room for my granddaughter to hold until her puppy came back. That simple act of kindness meant so much to us and is something we’ll never forget. We happily drive about 40 minutes from Orlando to Eustis just to see Dr. Wilson, and we will continue making that drive for as long as she’s caring for animals. She is truly one of a kind. The entire office staff is just as wonderful—friendly, caring, and welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. This practice has absolutely earned every one of its five stars. Thank you, Dr. Wilson and your amazing team, for the exceptional care you provide to both pets and their families!

It was a sad day for us as we were putting down our baby girl after 11 years. The staff was wonderful and compassionate! They will most definitely be my new veterinarian when I get another dog.
