How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Cohen Veterinary Center

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Holy smokes this place is out of this world with their level of fantasticness!!! Went on vacation left my pooch (who has more allergies than any human I know) with my sister. Only asked he not be left alone outside for long. He was outside for days. He's a shitzoo and his fur was terrible so was his eyes and the areas around his eyes. They put him to sleep so he wasn't traumatized by this too. The staff was so kind and caring for his old self. If I move away from Deltona I will drive here anyways if its within 200 miles because they truly care for our fur babies like they are theirs. Tyvm everyone from the groomers next door to the staff in the office.

My friend of 13 years needed a little help getting to the end of her road today. And Dr. Cohen was very courteous, compassionate and gentle. My dog's dignity was very important and doctor cohen was a true friend to her today. I've lived here for over 35 years and always been happy with doctor Cohen's service. He has such a warm heart.

I had been bringing my beloved pets to this clinic for many years. My senior dog had a heart murmur and needed eyelid surgery to remove a growth that was causing a corneal ulcer. Another veterinarian had advised that his heart condition should be addressed before undergoing surgery. When I discussed the murmur with Dr. Cohen, he performed X-rays and blood work and told me my dog was fine to proceed with surgery. They didn’t monitored him after surgery to check his heart condition at all. Because general anesthesia can be especially risky for older dogs with heart conditions, I trusted his professional judgment. A few days after the surgery, my dog’s condition deteriorated rapidly. He fainted, became severely short of breath, and I rushed him to an emergency hospital in the middle of the night. Sadly, his condition was so serious that we had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. From what I experienced, his heart condition worsened significantly after the surgery. Looking back, I wish I had sought additional opinions and more information about the risks involved. If your senior pet has a heart condition and needs surgery, I would strongly encourage getting a second opinion and discussing all available monitoring and precautionary measures beforehand. This was an extremely painful experience for my family, and I wanted to share it so other pet owners can make the most informed decisions possible.
