How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Hometown Veterinary Care

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Getting to Know Your Veterinarian

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

We are in the area for my spouses work. Our dog had an ear infection that wasn't getting better with the medicine I had been using. They got us in the next morning and the staff are amazing. Buddy is back to normal and they are reasonably priced. I will go back if needed and would recommend to a friend.

They are so good with our fur babies. I love how they give you price/options for treatment and you decide so you know what to expect when you check out and its not such a shock, you are basically driving the bus on treatment based on what you can afford at that time. The staff are all so friendly and love animals ❤️

Highly recommend this office! I called worried about my baby and they quickly squeezed him in, gave me answers and ended up saving his life❤️ he’s already feeling so much better and I couldn’t be more thankful! They were so kind, even though we had a million questions and always were willing to give me updates when I asked, and even gave me updates if I didn’t call. Would definitely trust bringing my pets here!

My sister and I had to take 1 of her fur babies in to see the vet. After everything was said and done we decided to let him go. Broke our hearts! The staff and Dr. made the process 100% better by the after care they gave to my sister. I now take my Tank “yorkie mix” to them. I WILL NOT trust anyone else with him. Thank you Hometown Vet for the loving care you give to all your patients.

We have 3 dogs and they take great care of them. They have always gone above and beyond to see and treat them. The staff are amazing and the Vet takes her time to explain things. Wouldn’t use anyone else.
