How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Callahan Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I felt like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone...dirty, smelly, ancient equipment. No exam rooms, but a small hallway with an old table scale your dog is expected to stay on. (They put a noose on your dog and tie it down to the table, choking your dog out!) My dog was literally making gurgling noises. Vet did not even fully assess the dog. Vet has no personality and needs to retire. Will never submit my animals to that type of environment again. BEWARE!

Took my 1 year old husky puppy in to get neutered. He bled out on the table because this vet was unable to properly handle a neuter surgery. Wouldn't even give me a refund... Go somewhere else!!!! This was a couple of years ago. This gentleman needs to retire!

I have known Dr. Swanson for many years. He has taken care of all my animals since I moved to Callahan in 1992. No matter what time I called him he got me right in. I will never forget when my beloved cat Clovis had an embolism at 930pm. He was in pain and horrible distress and Dr Swanson took me right in and unfortunately Clovis had to be euthanized but I was so thankful to get him relief from his pain. I couldn't take it. Dr Swanson was very compassionate and gentle. I'm just so thankful for him still being around.

Dr. Swanson has been in Callahan longer than I have lived out here which is 40+ years. He always works me in and very affordable. We had to put our cat down after 15 years plus we have taken many other animals to him. He LOVEs animals! He will care for your animal like his own.

I recently moved into the area and needed a close Animal doctor. I found this place and wouldn't go anywhere else! The staff is friendly and helpful. The Doctor genuinely loves his patients. He is kind and gentle with my little fur babies. He doesn't recommend unnecessary tests or procedures like I have experienced other places. And an added bonus, the prices here are very affordable. I know my dogs are getting excellent care.
