How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Westbay Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We , unfortunately had to put to sleep , my cat Peanut. Dr. Murphy and the rest of the West Bay Animal Hospital team were amazing. Not only were they professional and respectful , they also seem like they care on a personal level as well. The icing on the cake was the condolence letter in the mail handwritten from the whole staff. Thank you all once again and I will definitely be using this clinic for future pets.

DO NOT use this Vet, over priced service and incorrect medication prescribed. after 3 visits, 2 rounds of antibiotics, anal glad problem persists! $632 invested and pushing for surgery. Took Dog to NH vet, they prescribed “correct antibiotic” for less money and problem was solved in a few days! looks to me like West Bay was just pushing for expensive surgery! Googled searched.. correct antibiotic? and boom! listed correct antibiotic & problem solved. I kindly asked West Bay for reasonable refund for second office visit and second round of incorrect antibiotic and was rudely denied! STAY AWAY FROM this VET! Bad news! Costly too.

I have lived in the area for years and have used many vets in Bradenton/Sarasota. Dr. Conner and the staff at WBAH were spot on. Put the work in, gave me direct answers, did not over charge for meds and care about the animals. Unlike most interactions with pet services, I left with less questions and more answers. To me that is great service.

After a disastrously frustrating, exorbitantly expensive, experience at Bayshore Animal hosp, and a doctor there who could not have been less interested in treating my shelter dog I recently adopted from the Manatee County shelter, if she was a dead rodent brought in from the road! Dr. Murphy at Westbay, as well as her staff, were all very professional and welcoming. Their concern and dedication to my, and the other animals in their care, was immediately obvious with the first visit. I don't have the money or, energy to search all over the county, wasting hundreds of dollars on useless, only in it for the money, ($53 for a 4oz bottle of betadine that you can get at CVS for half that and, twice the size, as well being a totally unnecessary add on) so-called veterinarians. Dr. Murphy, being as thorough as I expected, diagnosed my dog's problems and my beautiful shelter dog is NOW on the mend. These people who take your money, with a 200% mark up on services and unnecessary extras, need to be held accountable as any other "healthcare professional" and I use that term loosely for some. My visit to Bayshore, for a whole 5 mins of dr time, after over an hr wait, was TWICE the charge by Dr Murphy, who actually examined my dog. She has spent more time and effort with my dog in the last few weeks than I'm certain that, that dr at Bayshore has in his entire empty career. I just hate that the time wasted on Bayshore delayed crucial treatment that was so necessary for my dog. This isn't a slam on one clinic instead of praising another. I'm just still so angry at the blatant malpractice of one, compared to the care and concern shown by another clinician. I'm thankful we found Westbay, with a rec from my daughter's neighbor, and my dog is FINALLY on the right road, to Westbay!

I have to say each and every one of the doctors there and the employees are compassionate and caring about the animals the dogs and the cats they care for and the people who own them. They have been taking care of my cats and dogs for many many years and I appreciate each and every one especially from the recent loss of one of my cats Mr moochie pig pen.
