How to Save Money at Best Vet Affordable Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Hey! 😊 Just wanted to share my experience as a first-time visitor at Best Vet today. Let me tell you, the name truly says it all – they are the BEST VET! 🌟 From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive. They made me feel comfortable and reassured, knowing that my furry friend was in safe hands. The veterinarian who attended to my pet was exceptional. They took the time to listen to my concerns and answered all my questions patiently. Their expertise and professionalism were truly commendable. It's clear that they genuinely care about animals and their well-being. Not only did they provide thorough medical attention, but they also went above and beyond to offer advice and guidance on preventative care. Their dedication to educating pet owners on maintaining their pets' health is highly commendable. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am to have found Best Vet. My sister's 19-year-old dog had to be put to sleep on Wednesday and was in pain and when my niece called to get an appointment she was told there were no appointments that day she explained that my sister has used that vet for over 30 years for her pets. They didn't care. What awful inconsiderate office staff to treat someone who is not only elderly losing the pet she loved but not caring and said there was nothing they could do even though she was a patient there for 30 years. Really disgusting. My sister was able to call a mobile vet who came over within hours and relieved her dog's pain so you can be assured she will never recommend this place again even though she did like Dr Armstrong but that office staff is terrible.

I would like to say that the staff here is wonderful ever had issues with anyone but my poor dog was sick today his sugar levels were low and also he was throwing up and no eating. Doctor took 5 minutes (I’m not joking) 5 minuets and said he’s fine. Is not the first time that he takes 5 minutes to check and saids the same thing. I just wish I found a doctor that cared a little more. Oh and after the 5 minutes $270 bill. I just don’t get it 😞

I have been walking here for 7 plus years. I am one of the early morning walkers. Here daily when it opens at 6:29. Love seeing nature and the wonderful boardwalk. Wish the nature center was open on Sundays for the families (only open W-Sat). Thank you Trudy and Ted!

I have been using Best vet since late 2019. What I like most: -They always answer the phone during business hours, no long wait times on the phone -Staff is friendly and patient -They always have appointments available. I called on a Tuesday for routine vaccinations for my dog. Needed a Saturday appointment due to work and they actually had times available for this Saturday. -Wait times in the office are reasonable -I literally pay out of pocket for all of my dog’s vaccinations and I am able to because their prices are so reasonable. I never considered getting pet insurance once. Prices have pretty much stayed reasonable through and after Covid. -The doctor and his staff gets you in and out I really enjoy this vet. It’s right around the corner from my house and when I move up north, I will make monthly trips back down for my dog because it’s worth it.
