How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Banfield’s Aventura and North Miami locations have become increasingly problematic. Over time, nearly all of the experienced veterinarians, managers, and support staff who knew their clients and patients have left. Since their departure, there has been a constant turnover of new veterinarians who often appear unfamiliar with patient histories and clinic operations. Frankly, the only staff member who consistently seems knowledgeable about clients and ongoing care is John, the veterinary assistant. Former manager Ashley left, along with several respected veterinarians and team members, including Drs. Padilla, Perez, Quintero, and Sanabria. Their departures have significantly impacted the quality and continuity of care. Access to appointments has become extremely difficult. At the Aventura location, there is often only one veterinarian working per shift, resulting in long wait times and limited availability. I am personally aware of situations involving neighbors whose pets could have received timely treatment but instead ended up requiring emergency care due to the inability to secure appointments. I attempted to return to the North Miami location, only to wait weeks for an initial consultation appointment. After making arrangements, I later received a call informing me that my appointment had been moved to the end of the day, creating additional inconvenience and expense. As a client with four cats, each visit requires 4 uber rides for drop-off, go home, come bac and pick-up, costing close to $100 in transportation alone when going to NM location. Adding the cost of pet pedi brings the total near $200 before any veterinary services are even performed. Meanwhile, I continue paying for wellness plans that have become nearly impossible to utilize due to appointment shortages. At all times need to find anyways another vet because is weeks of wait time for an appointment. Banfield has long struggled with staffing seems that compensation issues has translated in all vets leaving and getting brand new graduates without the basic knowledge in charge,in addition to that, often appears that front-desk operations are understaffed as well, leading to lengthy hold times and poor customer service. To make an app I must physically come to the clinic. My community or local pet owners friends and myself are “extremely disappointed” with the direction these locations have taken. Many long-term clients are choosing to leave because they no longer feel they are receiving the level of care, accessibility, and continuity that originally made Banfield convenient and somehow worthwhile. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is even worse than I can fully describe in this review. I end up paying a wellness plan without access and for a year have missed the comprehensive exam. Last time they did it they gave me the cups to do the fecal as well as deworming etc etc that incompetent they became. You can not blame the vets, seems to be only new grads that need experience come to clinic to leave afterwards.

I've had several dogs throughout my life, but this is my first experience with Banfield Pet Hospital. Started taking my 5 yr old, male Pitbull mix a little over a month ago. My fur baby suffers from allergies, so we have seen several vets over the past 4 years. I didn't have pet insurance so I joined the Banfield group with a monthly care plan. I do think it was a good idea. I believe that I'd probably be paying more elsewhere for the same or similar services. The staff at Banfield Aventura, FL are very compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, wonderful people. I've recently had the opportunity to meet and work with 2 veterinarians there on the care of my precious dog. I have no complaints so far. Today, Dr. Perez performed the surgery on my fur baby. I was a nervous wreck worrying about my baby and all his recent ailments. Dr. Perez put my mind at ease and took great care of my sweet fur baby. The vet techs and the receptionist always greet us with a smile and kind words. All of the staff are excellent with people and pets! I appreciate the care and support. They are always great at responding to my concerns and answering my questions. Thank you Banfield Aventura! I recommend them to anyone with pets.

I came for a vaccin recall. They were not able to know what was the vaccin shot my dog had last visit. They just took a guess and propose me a random shot today. I said no. I don’t trust them to take care about ours animals. I canceled every inssurance with them too and find I will find better place. I also called them for an appointement for nails cut. They told me to come on the phone. When I was here they send me back home and pretend to don’t have the time for that service. All this mess in less than 3 weeks.

Since 2012, Benfield Pet Hospital has been taking care of my pets. I routinely use the wellness plan to keep my dog and cats healthy. I recommend.

My elder dog is whimpering. I made a same day appointment using the app. It’s for a drop off. I arrive at the appointment time. I’m placed in a room and the coordinator says someone will be with me shortly. A male nurse arrives within 10 min to tell me the doctor is out to lunch and should be arriving within a few minutes. He asks me what’s wrong with my pet and I tell him and he then says the doctor will be with me when she returns. I wait for 30 minutes and still am not seen. I tell the coordinator I’ve been waiting and was told the doctor would see me within a few minutes and it’s been 30 and this is supposed to be a drop off. She goes and gets the nurse and he then comes out and proceeds to tell me I didn’t tell him it was a drop off. I said why should have said that when you told me the doctor would see me within a few minutes? You have my file. You know why I’m here if you read my file before seeing me. This is a complete disrespect to people’s time. If the doctor is away for lunch, the appointment should not be able to be booked online simple as that.
