How to Save Money at Beckett & Associates Veterinary Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The best vet I’ve ever been to! I have an older pup who had a growth that needed removal. I tried two surgeons prior to coming here, but no one seemed to feel confident enough to remove it due to the location and possibility of incontinence. After searching all over the state for the best surgeon I was referred to this office for a consult. Little did I know it was the best thing I ever did for my dog. This place didn't just care for my dog as if she was their own, but they also removed the growth and got her back to her happy healthy self. They were the most supportive compassionate team when caring for my pup all through recovery, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. I cannot thank this office enough for all of their work with my pup, I am extremely grateful to have found this vet. I truly wish I could put 5+ stars!

We used to have a terrible vet. We needed a Vet that could see our senior dog. Beckett was the only place we could find. Let me tell you, we couldn't have asked for better end of life care. We've been going to beckett for almost a year now and the care has always been good. We had to put Jake down today, I'm crying as I write this, they let him stay outside the whole time, gave our family the space we needed. How much is the service? No idea, they don't take payment day of. Just go home and be a family for today they said. Jake was 15, we've never put a pet down before and it was beautiful and terrible all at once. Dr. Jen and her vet technicians were amazing. We'll 100% be back when we have another pet.

I was so lucky to find Beckett and Associates. This Veterinary office is truly amazing! All the staff are so nice and helpful here. When I needed an international health certificate for my pet to travel abroad, Beckett and Associates was so accomodating. They got me in right away and gave my puppy his Rabies vaccine. After 21 days I returned and was given the paperwork i needed to clear Customs with my pet. My trip would not have been possible without Beckett and Associates. I am so so so grateful for their service. I highly recommend this Veterinary office to all.

I am SO happy with this vet for so many reasons. We moved to the area with three dogs over the summer. I called a total of 15 different vets- most weren't taking new patients, and those that did had over a month wait even for a sick dog. We had a good experience with another vet... but even once established, it was a month to have a sick done seen for an acute issue. I was so thrilled to find Beckett and Associates. I called and even as a new patient, they were able to get my sick dog in one day. They specifically told me they save appointments daily for "sick" visits so that dogs aren't going to the ER for something like a UTI (which we'd had to do when first moving here since no one could see us). Same-day or next-day appointments for acute issues is a massive deal. Other things we love: -So far we've met two of the doctors and have been very impressed. They've offered multiple treatment plans and options for each of our dogs when an issue arose, including newer treatments that could help long-term, but they NEVER pressured us or upsold us. They were also incredibly thorough and really heard our concerns if we had any. -The entire staff, including the techs and the front desk, is friendly, knowledgable, and great with our dogs- including a nervous Aussie. -The office is clean, and the location itself is beautiful. -The pricing is amazing compared to a lot of vets in the area. -Each time we've taken a dog in (even for minor things like licking paws for allergies), we've gotten a follow up call a day or so later to ask if we had questions or needed anything else. We're so happy we found Beckett and Associates, and are very excited to work with them permanently.
