How to Save Money at GoodVets Golden
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I had a deeply frustrating experience with this veterinary clinic regarding the necessary follow-up treatment for my cat's coccidia infection. Despite the well-established protocol for treating such parasites, which often requires a second course of medication a couple of weeks after the first, the clinic refused to simply prescribe the required medication. They mandated an additional office visit and a costly fecal examination, totaling upwards of $190, before proceeding with treatment. This was in direct contradiction to a commitment I had received the day prior (via a phone call) that the medication would be prescribed. All I needed to do was bring my cat in to check his weight Upon the visit, instead of fulfilling their word, they attempted to push an alternative medication that had already proven ineffective during the initial treatment phase. The previous medication had been highly effective. Given the identical symptoms and the prior success of the initial treatment, the refusal to re-prescribe the proven medication—solely for the sake of mandating an expensive diagnostic test—is baffling and strongly suggests a prioritization of profit over patient welfare. This lack of concern has left my cat suffering from severe, uncontrollable diarrhea throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, when vet access was extremely limited. I caution pet owners to seek an independent, non-chain veterinary practice, as I also found this facility's pricing to be nearly double that of local practices for routine services like vaccines and spay/neuter procedures. This establishment operates more like a business racket than a caring medical facility.

absolute worst experience with the female vet and female assistant. both forced me to drug my dog until he would not move and blamed me/became aggressive and rude to me for not being able to drug him more. the vet knew my dog was anxious as i spent 3 days at the vet in 1 week attempting to get him shots. On one occasion, the vet aggressively held down my dog in front of me, attempting to muzzle him while he squirmed and almost passed out (as she explained could happen)- and would not let him go until i screamed to PLEASE STOP. she finally let him go and i easily placed the muzzle on him and he complied with shots - calmly. (would like to note: the muzzle she used is not what other vets use because hers was not a breathing safe one). she was forceful, appeared very angry, and mean, it was very harmful to my dogs vet experience. i would never recommend this office to anyone who cares about their animal. I got my records today and they blatantly lied about the situation and my complaint regarding the vets treatment of my dog as i wanted to inform the office of how horrific it was so it would be addressed appropriately. the lady at the front was asking why i was upset about my visit, and the vet / owner abruptly presented in the office and began yelling at me for not drugging my dog (once again. I already heard the lecture in the room). I also told the vet that if she didn’t notice - once she listened to me (the owner of the dog) to let go and let me assist, he was fine, complied with the shots without issues. it was apparent that she wanted to do what she preferred without considering the pet and owner relationship, as i know a lot about my own animal since spending his 5 years of life with him. the vet would not take accountability and instead yelled at/blamed me for not medicating him (he would not eat for the days around vet visits while overdosing him). she reiterated that she would like him to have a positive vet experience which is the need for medicine; (i agreed) however, i reiterated the importance of safety and comfort at home. she argued that my dog “snipped previously” when he was taken in the back without me. She told me on the last visit when she became defensive about my concerns for her poor care giving skills. Also no one told me that happened (if it actually did) and it was NOT in his records, which makes me wonder if this office was honest. After forcing medicine on him for a week straight, he became weary of food and he still is- it’s been over 4 months since this experience. i am now taking him to another vet due to their reactions and his experience at GoodVets golden location. Unfortunately, my new office is certain that this locations interactions/negativity, lack of compassion/honesty, and forceful/ aggressive environment as an over all negative experience at a vet (for 3 days) is resulting in my dogs new concerns, as he is stressed, fearful, and has more anxiety than ever before. I am desperate to find a cure for what this place did to my dog, and it has costed hundreds of dollars because of this clinic. Please do not undermine our experience as my dog has consequently never been the same since dealing with Goodvets Golden location. not to mention the price of exam, shots, and the medication that they over prescribed (never was going to need that much) was excessive. DO NOT RECOMMEND for the safety and comfort of your pet.

We just moved to the area and I have been in for one limping dog and another annual checkup. Their staff is always super friendly! All my concerns were validated and addressed. The vets are extremely knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions! Before treatment, I was provided a quote so there weren't any surprises on price!

I can’t thank the team at GOODVETS @golden Colorado enough for the incredible care they gave my dog, Jelly Bean, during a really difficult time. She was having GI issues, and I was so worried—but from the moment we walked in, Nurse Cheyanne and Dr. Hess made us feel supported and truly cared for. They were so thorough with every test, explained everything clearly, and kept me updated every step of the way. It was such a comfort knowing that Jelly Bean was in such compassionate and capable hands. They went above and beyond to make sure she was feeling better, and I could genuinely feel how much they cared. It’s a huge relief to have a veterinary team I can fully trust with my fur baby. I’m beyond grateful for everything they did for us. Thank goodness I have their wellness plan to save me time and money in an urgent time.
