How to Save Money at Livewell Animal Urgent Care of Colorado Springs

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff at Livewell were absolutely fantastic! From the moment I walked in the door the receptionist was very welcoming. The tech was super great and friendly with my dog so I knew he was in good hands. The wait was a little while as expected in an urgent care but the whole time while I waited the receptionist and tech kept checking on us. Once the doctor came in she did an exceptional job explaining what was going on and did everything to keep the costs low. Overall the cost was cheaper than a regular emergency clinic and was nice to have when I couldn’t get right into my regular vet.

My cat was in pain so I took him in. They were able to see him right away and we're very kind. The receptionist was very attentive and made you feel very comfortable. They were very up front with pricing, letting you know the high and low end. They treated my cat and only did what was necessary, and did not add things we didn't need. I would highly recommend Dr. Doyle and her staff

Livewell Animal Urgent Care was amazing! My dog had an allergic reaction to a vaccine, and they got us in right away. No long wait, no stress—just quick, professional care from a super friendly team. Everyone was so kind and reassuring, which made a huge difference because I was pretty freaked out. They explained everything clearly and took such great care of my pup. Thanks to them, she’s back to normal, and I couldn’t be more grateful. If you ever need urgent care for your pet, this is definitely the place to go!

I had an excellent experience taking an injured stray kitty to Livewell. From the receptionist, to the techs, and to the doctor, everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. The doctor was intelligent and did not pressure us into unnecessary testing, etcetera. I also found the prices to be very reasonable for an urgent, walk-in clinic. My only concern—which has nothing to do with their exceptional care—is that their practice is not yet listed on Apple or Google Maps and thus didn’t pop up when searching for clinics; a receptionist at another clinic referred me to them. I hope they get listed on Maps and their business booms! Our side of town needs urgent veterinary care, and these folks are fabulous at what they do.

Could not have asked for a better experience! My cat was suffering from an allergic reaction to some vaccines he had received earlier in the day, and they were able to get him stabilized immediately. Dr. Doyle is very knowledgeable and made sure to keep me updated on every step, as well as making sure to go through my budget with me and kept me informed of all costs so that I wouldn't have any surprises. I also appreciate that she gave me a breakdown of which over-the-counter human meds would help my cat at home, along with very specific doses written, so that I wouldn't have to spend a fortune on vet meds. I was seen immediately, and everyone on staff made sure I was comfortable and taken care of the whole time. Will definitely come back if needed!
